Jeans again! I just can't find any to fit. Help

I'm so stuck. I'm down to one pair of jeans I don't like much. I'm looking to own just one good pair I love. I can't find any that fit and flatter. Next jeans used to be a safe go to buy not anymore.

I'm that awkward size 14-16. Early 50s . Pear shape with a bit of menopause spread. Sizing up doesn't work. They're then saggy and weird at the crotch or they add extra width to the leg which makes me look bigger than I am.

I just want some jeans made for a woman's curvy body. I've tried Hollister curve and the low rise fit (which is not flattering) but the high rise didn't. Does anyone else make jeans with a bit more room for hips and thighs?

I have the exact same problem. 28 inch waist vs 44 inch hips! I found the M&S Lily jeans work well for me.

bookmarket · 12/12/2025 10:28

For some reason I can't work out, M&S jeans never work for me. The leg length is too short or too long and they all seem to rely on a lot of stretch to fit. I could try again....

All my best jeans are Tu at Sainsbury's. I've just bought the stovepipe ones but most of their straight legs are generous in the thighs.

Nudie jeans clean Eileen. No baggy crotches or too much stretch and are flattering on different shapes.

I was going to recommend Tu as well. I first discovered them via a thread on MN, so returning the favour now.

I'm a similar shape, size and age to you and I have some M&S barrel jeans that fit well and I feel good in.

As for leg length, I think you have to wear them slightly shorter than we did when we were younger - mine are just on my ankles and I'd have previously considered them too short, but that's how people seem to wear them now.

I love Sainers jeans
Size 16 hourglass with short legs

Tcateh · 12/12/2025 11:17

There's no help for me, I just googled stove top jeans.

😶

Sprig1 · 12/12/2025 11:45

Yes, you need a trip to Sainsbury's. I am a similar shape to you and I only wear their straight leg jeans. They are the right shape with just the right amount stretch.

EmmaStone · 12/12/2025 11:50

If you wear jeans a lot (I wear mine everyday), I think it's worth paying some money to get good ones that work for you. I'm loving Levis at the moment - go to a shop where they'll help you try a million different shapes and sizes. Once you've found the fit you like, they have great sales/outlet stores (sign up to their app as well), and you'll be able to find secondhand.

Gettingbysomehow · 12/12/2025 13:50

I am small of waist and big of bum size 10 to 12 so I usually buy M&S flared leg jeggings which fit everywhere but surprisingly the best fitting jeans I own are M and Co straight leg jeans.they fit really well. I can wear a belt with them but I don't need to.
Everywhere else I've tried has been a failure.

luckylavender · 12/12/2025 13:59

Try GAP boot cut. And take a look in Uniqlo

Silverbirchleaf · 12/12/2025 14:06

I have next Lift and slim bootcut jeans which suit my pear shaped body. I do usually have to have a belt also. (In fact, wearing a pair as we speak).

Paaseitjes · 12/12/2025 14:10

H&M extra wide high waist fit my postpartum arse nicely

Sosigrole · 12/12/2025 14:11

Cinch Levis!........I've been searching for a pair of jeans for so long that fit and finally found them.....I have a small waist and fairly chunky legs so jeans either fit on waist but too tight on thighs, or fit on thighs but then waist too big.
These have press studs on the side to make the waist smaller too and 'cinch' you in, lovely soft denim too. Took me 3 attempts to get the right size but they are so flattering.

I swear by Ambela. They’re made of stretchy denim and their whole ethos is about comfortable, well fitting jeans for soft bodies. They do sell out often though so not always easy to get a hold of.
