Clothes for adult-sized 15 year old DD

BananaPie · 10/12/2025 11:54

Any recommendations for where to buy clothes for my 15 year old? She is basically adult size 10-12 and now too big for kids clothes but obviously too young for most women’s styles. She’s not particularly bothered about current trends, doesn’t like tight fitting or low cut tops but also doesn’t want to look like a middle aged woman so where I shop is no good! I’d like to get her something a bit sparkly for Xmas / new year.

New look?

LifeBeginsToday · 10/12/2025 11:55

Primark, H&M and Zara

Silverbirchleaf · 10/12/2025 11:56

Zara,
Goose and gander (online)

Pyjamatimenow · 10/12/2025 11:58

Next teen sizes are equivalent to women’s sizes

FlappicusSmith · 10/12/2025 12:59

DD (12) is in adult XS/S size clothes already.... We find her stuff in Primark, New Look, H&M (adults, their kids stuff is tiny). Sometimes still find stuff in Next kids (but one or two sizes up) and M&S kids (e.g. leggings)

Geneticsbunny · 10/12/2025 13:08

I would have thought that a 15 year old would want to be wearing grown up style clothes? I think next and m and s kids range go up to 15/16.

That's weird! At the upper end of girls' sizes the measurements are interchangeable with smaller women's sizes.
At women's size 10-12 I'm not sure why your DD doesn't fit in girl's clothes. I am that size and I wear them!
Eg in Next:
Size 10 is a 28" waist
Age 14-15 is a 28" waist.

I'm wondering if it's something else rather than measurements that doesn't line up. Does she have broad shoulders or wide hips or something like this? Maybe she is tall? It would help to know, to give better recommendations.

Whentostarthrt · 10/12/2025 13:47

My daughter likes Bershka, Hollister, Abercrombie, Zara- all have lots of options for teens

I’m guessing the OP means her 15 year old doesn’t want to wear kids clothes which quite often are designed for tweens not 15 year olds!

Newmeagain · 10/12/2025 13:51

Surely at 15 she is just wearing normal adult clothes, but aimed at a “younger” market, including brands that cater for everyone?

but it really depends on her style - not all 15 year olds are the same.

Hollister, Urban Outfitters, Weekday, H&M, etc

The OP literally says that she's too big for girl's clothes though? The DD doesn't want to look like a woman, OP says.

MiddleAgedDread · 10/12/2025 14:01

New Look, H&M, Primark, TopShop, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, i.e. adult sized clothes shops that are aimed at the younger audience.

AllJoyAndNoFun · 10/12/2025 14:02

Hollister
Motel Rocks
H&M
Urban Outfitters
Edikted (overpriced tat IMO)
Caarhartt WIP (spendy)

Donostiera · 10/12/2025 14:11

I've bought mine some gorgeous stuff from Joe Browns for Christmas. All depends on her taste of course!

I think they are often shorter in legs, arms etc?

NancyMitfordsLeftGlove · 10/12/2025 14:14

There are a plethora of shops between gap kids and the white stuff
where do 18-30 year old women shop? Try those places

BillieWiper · 10/12/2025 14:14

I was a size 12/14 at 13. I used to shop at places like new look, Topshop (RIP), h&m, river island.

Zara, bershka?

ClareVoiance · 10/12/2025 14:17

Zara, New Look, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Uniqlo, M&S.

No. I often but kids clothes because they are vat free and therefore cheaper. They are the same length of arm and leg as adult size 10s.

user2848502016 · 10/12/2025 19:57

DD is almost 15 and a size 8/10. She gets a lot from vinted and also SHEIN, Zara, new look, asos, primark. She never buys from teen ranges anymore.
Youngest DD is almost 11 and will fit a size XS/6 ladies, she is tall for her age so ladies clothes are the right length for her. She’s probably about an age 13 in kids clothes. She wears a lot of sporty clothes but sometimes gets stuff in primark or the new look teens range.

Adult clothes assume you have boobs and hips. My daughter had this problem as she was wearing a D cup bra age 12. All of the kids tops and dresses assumed the wearer was flat chested.

cotswoldsgal1234 · 10/12/2025 20:06

All the teens at my school love Urban Outfitters.

Agree
I'm short. There are some kids clothes I can fit in but not most and it's because I've not got a kids figure. Also kids jumpers have a higher neckline as well I've noticed

Toothfairy89 · 10/12/2025 20:12

Surely 15yos wear adult style clothes? It just depends on her style and budget

Zara, new look, mango, hollister, urban outfitters, abercrombie, asos, m&s, stradivarius, primark basically the entire highstreet caters to 15yos. Any brand will do "teenage clothes"
