How did you find your plastic surgeon?

Just that really!

I keep reading people say they ‘did their research’ but how and where?

Other than confirming they are registered with all the appropriate boards etc.

Im Seriously considering a face lift/nose job and just drowning in possible places. Would have to be UK so not interested in abroad.

I haven’t had anything done yet OP, but I’m also interested as I am researching a facelift in the next 5 -10 years.

What I’m doing is keeping a shortlist of surgeons I hear recommended from here and other places.

So far I have Rajiv Grover, Dominic Bray, Georgios Orfaniotis - although these guys are quite expensive. But they have years of experience doing facelifts and their results look very natural so I guess you get what you pay for.

I’ve also heard Chris West from Coppergate clinic and Amir Nakhdjevani from Bella Vou Clinic recommended on here.

Mine was a personal recommendation. The price was mid range, surgeon was very honest & blunt. The results were really good & the hospital & treatment in Paris was excellent.

Also, it’s a good idea to check out the before and after pictures on their websites - they should have loads, and you should like the look they achieve.

RealSelf is a good forum with reviews & photos of UK doctors.
For rhinoplasty I would look at Rhinoplasty FAQs | Mr Julian Rowe-Jones Aesthetic Rhinoplasty

Thank you. I’ve just looked at Dominic Bray and see he does his lifts via twilight sedation rather than GA.

Georgios Ofaniotis who you also mention says on his site that he strongly disagrees with this approach as it doesn’t allow for full surgical control and he only operates with the patient under GA

its such a minefield

I wanted to be local- I visited a couple, read reviews, went with a woman as I feel more comfortable with a woman. She also does facial reconstruction for the NHS for cancer patients so I felt confident she had skills.

Hi OP,

I would highly recommend Alex Karidis (based in St John's wood London). I had a lower face lift and liposuction under my chin with him. I was really pleased with the results and 7 years later I am still really pleased!! Xx

Hallo Cherryripe, could you DM about this surgeon? TIA

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 09/12/2025 20:03

My sister swears by Dominic Bray

FunnyCradock · 10/12/2025 01:02

@ByQuaintAzureWasp
At £80k for the surgery, I’d want to swear by the outcome!!!

Touty · 10/12/2025 02:28

Has anyone had that one stitch lower face lift with just a local anaesthetic?

Hi, I've pressed the 3 dots but couldn't see how to do that, sorry. I looked up the surgeon who did my liposuction in 2002 to see if he's retired but he's still operating in Paris & doesn't seem to have that great a review rating, maybe it's his rather blunt bedside manner, no schmooze or flannel! Dr Pierre de Taddeo. He used to do consultations only in South Kensington.

I looked into the surgeons at the local private hospital, then asked friends if they had any recommendations - turns out 3 of them had their surgery done by the surgeon I was most drawn to and they all spoke highly of him.
I then booked a consultation with him and he advised the consultation fee allows me to return for 2 more consultations included, so I could take someone else with me for support/advice and there was no pressure with anything that he told me.

I’m going back for a second consultation in the New Year and hopefully go ahead with the surgery

CherryRipe1 · 10/12/2025 11:50

@Illegally18 I've still got a 6 pack he sculpted some 23 years later & it's been remarked on, it's obviously down to his skills but I did a lot of stomach crunches once I was able. My pre surgery stomach was Roly poly & I could not get rid of it, it was very depressing, he did my flanks & back fat too. One of my ex work colleagues had loads of work done by him & the results were really good, not obvious at all but she started asking for silly unnecessary stuff & he was short with her! He must be fairly mature now. Ive not had anything else done apart from teeth implants but am not ruling it out so watching this thread with interest.

blankcanvas3 · 10/12/2025 15:47

Charles East did my nose job and I can’t recommend him enough. I haven’t had a face lift so I can’t help with that x

Do you mean POD threads? I think the general advice is- don’t!

I can understand a surgeon wanting his patient to be anaesthetized and totally unaware. By operating on someone awake you are adding a whole new dimension to the procedure in that you are having to deal with them being stressed and anxious even if they’ve had some sort of sedation beforehand. Also it tends to mean that the surgery takes longer.

My daughter had rhinoplasty by Dr Basim Matti. He has consulting rooms in Harley St and operates at The Cromwell Hospital. He and his own team of nurses are wonderful & so caring. She is very happy with the result - it’s exactly as she wanted. Very quick recovery time too - after 1 week she was back to normal. He does all cosmetic surgery including facelifts & breast implants too.
