Can I use a semi permanent over salt and pepper hair?

I've been going grey for years,..white at the very front, scattered grey and still brown underneath. I thought I'd hold out but at this rate I'll be 90 before I have silver hair (I'm 58, my Mum is 78 and still not white haired)

I'm fed up with looking old and washed out, but I'm a bit wary of permanent colour. My hair is quite dry and wiry so also wary of highlights as they've always trashed my hair ..which I'm growing.

I wouldn't do it myself...but I'm wondering what to ask the hairdresser for... I'd like my hair light brownish again, don't mind a little grey showing through!

Any advice appreciated!

I do on mine. I prefer it to permanent dye because dye always comes out really dark on my hair, I find semi fades to a nicer colour and avoids a hard regrowth line.

I’ve recently started using the Josh Wood gloss colour mask in Champagne Blonde to soften my greys. I do it at home every second or third wash.

It’s subtle but definitely makes a difference. I’m quite a cool brown with a big streak of grey at the front, and this has made it look more like highlights.

My hairdresser gave me a colour mask sachet to try at home rather than upsell me into a salon colour that I wasn’t sure about. I love her.

I do this. It does cover the greys but not as dark as the other hair so actually looks quite natural. Tried to go grey for 10 years but got stuck with brown hair with greys in it.
