I'm not sure. It doesn't have any trim or embellishment or any synthetic fibres. I would probably wash it by hand and take care not to wring it. I wrap mine in a big towel to get out the worst drips and then dry flat.

I've got an all cotton jumper. I was it inside out inside a pillow case at 20. It has always been fine. I think sometimes companies say that just to protect themselves.

I did wonder if was just to protect themselves - I’ve a couple of other pure cotton jumpers and they say to machine wash (and they’ve washed fine for years like that)

Eh, possibly so it doesn't shrink, if it's an "honest" cotton.

Maybe they're not confident that the dye is colourfast?

I always wash cotton jumpers inside out at 30° in the machine. Just a quick 15 min cycle.
