Ankle boots for the narrow of ankle

Hello S&B gurus,

I am in the market for a new pair of ankle boots. I have very skinny legs, and so many pair flap around like a pair of wellies!

Criteria:
Black, ideally leather
Flat, and not massively chunky sole
Smart enough to wear to work, but cool enough to wear with jeans
Could be laces, zips, or Chelsea
And crucially: properly fit my ankles!

My current pair which are wearing out are fine, but only if I wear a pair of very thick socks!! So any recommendations much appreciated :)

I don’t think it’s possible to get close fitting ankle boots when you have thin ankles. I take size 3.5, so I assume the boots are narrower at the ankle than larger sizes, yet they’re still too wide at the ankle for me. Like you I wear thick socks.

The most fitted I had were laced up Victorian style boots back in my Laura Ashley days 1970’s/80’s.

good luck!

I've just bought these, both colours, flipping delighted with them and they might fit your needs - and ankles. I have slender ankles too. They're leather and extremely comfortable from the get go but sturdy too - I'm sooo glad I took a punt on them. I'll post the link and a pic of my actual boots, too. https://www.mandmdirect.com/01/details/OF30464/Onfire-Womens-Leather-Wedge-Boot-Black?aff

You have my sympathies. I've just tried on an ankle boot that made my leg look like a gerbera in a plant pot.

I have a pair of Clarks and a pair by Gabor which are less awful than some.

Otherwise Victorian style lace-ups have been the answer here. Or even Docs, although I have to change the lacing so the tops can cross.

I mean, they are not super fitted but there's definitely no flapping! 😂

Otherwise Victorian style lace-ups have been the answer here.
Try brands that do different shoe widths. I'd be looking at brands like Duo, Grenson and Gabor .

Oh but most of my lace-ups either have a heel (Victorian style) or are a bit chunky (docs), so alas probably not right for you.
