I'm still wandering around in sort of summer ones which isn't really terribly effective.

Uniglo maybe? Next?

What size, what inside leg measurement, what style/type of trousers, and what sort of budget?
How warm do you want them to be?

Good grief! I am in awe of your cold tolerance. I like the fleece-lined ones from Mountain Warehouse. I only have to wear tights under mine in the really cold weather.

UpMyself · 05/12/2025 21:31

I'm still wearing shorts.

That's nice! I've been cold all day long. Possibly need to jump up and down a bit.

I like the £40 wide leg cords from m and s in black, brown and navy. Cosy and flattering shape.

Seasalt, White Stuff, Fat Face - all do a good line in thick denim and cords and some wool ones they go up to a 24 (bit bigger for seasalt) and SS do have short options, I think, or just get them taken up. Wallis also quite good for work trousers.

Try Robell 29"/73cm Petite Trousers - Women's Petite Trousers | So Simply.
I'd also try traditional mail order like Damart and Cotton Traders, and Tu at Sainsbury's, as well as outdoors shops.

I'm a fair bit younger than you, and my suggestions are based on wanting something warm, practical and presentable, as opposed to on trend.

UpMyself · 06/12/2025 12:51

You've only answered one of the questions, OP.
Size 14 and short doesn't tell us much. Your age only implies that you don't need office wear.

We could do with some info like:

'I'm looking for smart, fashionable trousers, suitable for meeting friends for lunch or drinks. They need to be warm and with a 28" inside leg. Budget up to £150 for 2 pairs.'
or
I'm size 14, petite (4'11" in my socks), and I need decent warm trousers for dog walking up here in Inverness, but that would look ok if I met fellow dog owners for a pub lunch. Stretchy waist preferable, and they'll need to not look silly ticked into boots. Below £30 preferred.'

What for? Lounging about the house, going shopping, walking outdoors?

Ive got some craghoppers lined winter trousers that I love for walking. In the house I wear warm PJs…otherwise jeans/cords. The craghoppers fit me really well but I’m more of an apple shape so depends on your build.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/12/2025 19:01

I just wear tights underneath.
