How would you grow out/style this undercut (with pics)

Hi, i have decided to grow out my undercut and wondered if anyone had any advice about how to style my hair in the meantime. My aim is to go back to shoulder length hair with layers. My hair has a natural wave, however in the current style the wavy look is awful, so I am straightening it.

My hairdresser suggested a graduated bob whilst allowing the undercut to catch up, but I'm not keen on that style....feel it's very dated and my hair goes like a mushroom! My thoughts were to leave it alone and get regular trims, then when I can to style it in a low ponytail with some nice hairbands/clips. Any thoughts? I'd like to do something a bit more styled with it for Christmas parties....but am at a loss!

I love your undercut! (Sorry not helpful)

You just need to bite the bullet and let it grow. Regular trims will keep the back tidy - but anything else just prolongs the time it takes to grow out.

Could you bite the bullet for now and go for a pixie? Add a reddish colour? Or some warm highlights, then you can always grow the pixie out into a layered bob shape? I love pixie cuts!

See I'm torn between the last 2 comments! But do like the idea of doing something different with the colour. I think I may leave well alone with regular trims...I just really don't like that bob shape. I can't wait until I can at least tie it back in a tidy fashion into a low ponytail with some nice scrunchies/clips!

I think the bob style looks really nice on you. It won’t be long till it’s grown a little more.
