Workwear - smart casual, no sports clothes

Need a few ideas for this dress code. I have wide leg trousers and some nice trendy trainers (will need to check but think these are ok). Can anyone give me any ideas for tops or other wear?
I can do VERY casual well, but smart casual less so!

I’d add cashmere or merino wool jumpers, blazers, silk like blouses.

Also a little jewellery in your preferred metal (eg gold or silver). A nice bag, a tailored jacket coat.

It’s worth thinking about tv/film characters whose dress sense you like and letting yourself be inspired.

Have fun, but don’t spend lots before you go into the office and get a sense of the unspoken dress code. Unless you like standing out, which is ok too :)

Following as new job so need something similar. I think my current job (completely casual) is probably too casual!

Agree quality jumpers are good at this time of year, uniqlo do a decent range.

Long sleeved tshirt shapes but in a good material, like a fine rib or knit.

Clean trainers in good repair and plainer colours are often fine but I'd think about getting some loafers or brogues or Mary janes in case you need to lift your game for client meetings or similar.

I find quality belts surprisingly noticeable.

Have 2 outfits available then see what others wear. It is possible smart casual means unripped jeans and a newish tshirt!

This is my personal dress code (unless a workplace specifies otherwise). At this time of year I’m adding thermal long sleeves or a turtleneck under either a short sleeved or sleeveless knit, or shirts/blouses from places like Cos, Whistles, Hobbs. I prefer high necks or buttoned to the top and usually have chunky metal necklaces around the collar and nice earrings. I buy almost all work clothes on Vinted btw, then I don’t feel bad about swapping out when I get bored.
