Fairfax and Favor Regina boot quality issue

Faulty boots?
I have now received 2 pairs of mahogany leather Regina’s both with creased/lining which is not stuck to the outer, the first pair I sent back as faulty (it was only on one boot) but now have this second pair which again has creased/loose lining but to both boots. Is this normal?? The boots on the outside are lovely but is this really how the inner lining is?? It seems poor workmanship to me but want to check on here if this is the norm? Just worried this is going to rub and be uncomfortable to wear. I’ve looked at various videos and can’t see this kind of creasing on other boots. I’ve sent a message on their chat but haven’t heard back yet Feeling really deflated after being so excited to get these boots.

I would think this would be ordinary

Wow, the first pair weren’t as bad as these (only one boot was creased/loose) I might order a pair of Penelope Chilvers to compare and see which is better quality as this appears quite poor for £445 boots! (They look worse in real life from my pics tbh)

That is shoddy workmanship. Definitely send them back.

You would think wrong!

I’m a huge fan of F&F - this is disappointing. I’ve got several pairs and none look like this. Send them back! That’s pretty poor quality control by F&F, not great from a premium brand. As a PP said, take a look at Penelope Chilvers - definitely comparable to historic F&F quality.

UpMyself · 27/11/2025 12:48

Return them.

Allthebeernoidea · 27/11/2025 12:51

Mine don’t lookalike that inside. I wonder if the quality has dropped now they are popular

Petrine · 27/11/2025 14:10

I agree with the other posters… a pair of boots costing £445 should not look like those you’ve received. I’d send them back with a complaint.

@Bells2307 I work with footwear in a similar price bracket OP - if I received these in a delivery into our store they would be returned immediately to our supplier.
That’s horrendously poor workmanship.

Thank you, if you don’t mind me asking, are there any similar that you would recommend?

I also thought I’d ask on the FB F&F club page, but the post hasn’t been approved by admin funnily enough! 🤔

Thank you, I did try some Rydale but they’re not the quality or fit I’m after unfortunately. I’ve ordered a pair of Penelope Chilvers, I just really liked the F&F heeled Regina’s (it was the middle 2 inch heel) so struggling to find anything similar.

I used to work for F&F and that’s quite bad, they don’t usually look like that.

I do know that quality control doesn’t check every single item because there’s simply too much to check, it’s like every tenth box or so, so I can imagine they’ve slipped through the net.

user1497787065 · 27/11/2025 18:04

Interestingly I bought my first pair of Boudicca boots from them three years ago and love them, wonderfully comfortable
from day one. I bought a second pair in a different colour at the beginning of the year and am disappointed with them one in particular just doesn’t feel ‘right’. I have returned them and been told there is no manufacturing defect so am now treating them with leather balsam to try and soften them and make the fit more
comfortable. I don’t think F&F is quite what they were. PS I also have a couple pairs of their shoes.

Bells2307 · 28/11/2025 07:53

Thank you all, I’ll be sending them back, I’ve asked for another pair to be sent (third time lucky??)if anyone has any recommendations for good quality alternatives that would be great thank you ☺️

Send them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UpMyself · 28/11/2025 11:36

@Bells2307 , I'd look at boots that are similar but without the country tassel styling (I love the foot and heel shape but feel the country top doesn't match), and probably go for less expensive (but not cheap) brands.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/11/2025 11:52

I have an older pair of Reginas. They don’t look like that and I wouldn’t have kept them if they did. Send them back and tell them why. From what I read it does seem the quality is slipping there these days, as sadly it seems to be everywhere.
Edit - hope it’s third time lucky, and you feel they are worth all the hassle.

UpMyself · 28/11/2025 11:54

And of course, you could look for brands that are as expensive but perhaps without the 'aspirational' appeal of F&F.
I suspect that as more of that appeal has increased, quality might have suffered.

Yes I’m looking, I’m honestly not bothered about the “name” but they looked so nice and felt comfortable in the shop but unfortunately that pair had been scratched on the outside, hence ordering a new pair to be delivered. As you say, it’s the quality, comfort and look I’m after, they could be made by anyone for all I care, I much prefer quiet luxury tbh

UpMyself · 28/11/2025 16:32

I've looked at my knee length boots, of similar and less expensive quality, and the lining does not look like that in any of them. I also checked a nice pair of Italian ankle boots, and the F&F ones look duff. Shame because they look so smart on the website.

Bells2307 · 01/12/2025 12:50

So the boot saga continues, 3rd pair sent from Fairfax and Favor and not only bad lining again, but also marked on the outside. I can’t believe it, so gutted, I’ve asked for one more set to be sent and then I’m giving up, this is absolutely ridiculous for a so called premium brand.

There's a company that make these made to measure in lots of different colours. They normally show at Badminton, let me ask my friend the brand as she has a pair.

Fairfax is jot worth the price tag, sadly, friend brought a pair of leather boots from them. After a few uses the leather split and she was told this was normal wear and tear.

Ps if you Google Spainish Riding boots, lots will come up.
