Black tie event dress on shoe string budget

I've been invited to a black tie event early next year. V glitzy and posh. I really want to go, but I live in jeans/jumpers mostly, all the dresses I own don't really fit me in any kind of flattering way now.

I also don't have much of a budget. Maybe £100 for something perfect, but would rather spend less. Happy to look on Vinted, but what labels are good?

For context: 5ft 8, large size 14-16 but with a good waist, fair skinned and red haired. Prefer sleeves as I dislike my arms. I think I need a-line or 50s style. I wear a lot of black and navy, maybe I should try some colour?

I bought a lovely one on Vinted! Definitely spend time researching on there.

I’ve just got one on Vinted too.

I know everyone hate shein, but I have bought some beautiful evening gowns on there

I wore this to my works black tie do last year.
im similar colouring to you & my waist is my best bit. With it being a proper wrap dress, it really accentuated the waist.
The colour is a bit different but not too out there.

on Vinted though it’s great because you can literally type “black tie dress sleeves” pop your size in & just literally wade through. It’s the best kind of shopping knowing everything is in one place in your size.

Phase eight beaded dress | Vinted

Phase eight beaded dress - Gorgeous dress worn once to a wedding but don't have occasions to wear it anymore, size 16, couple of loose threads from beading don't notice when wearing. Open to sensible offers. Paid £350

Oh, this is lovely. I think a wrap dress would work for me too, my waist and my cleavage are definitely my best features.

I came on to say this. I have a couple of stunning dresses for around the 50 quid mark.

I had a great dress from Godiva after a recommendation on here . It was about £70

There’s always loads of Coast, Monsoon, Phase Eight, Needle & Thread evening dresses on Vinted.

My DD’s evening gowns are mostly from ever pretty. They vary a bit in quality admittedly but she’s worn them a lot (musician) and I’ve even machine washed them (against instructions £ without issue.
