Need dress for daytime December wedding

I thought this would be easier but I’m panicking a little now. DH’s niece is getting married in a few weeks and almost anything I suggest to him gets a wrinkled nose and “isn’t it a bit too evening-y?” Are velvet/sequins (probably not together) ok for a day wedding with an evening party afterwards? What about satin?

I’m 58 and blonde/fair, a petite 10 on a good day, 12 to be safe and have been generally drawn to pinks and reds in my search though would consider any other colour in that “season” (not white obvs and not black or probably navy). A midi length is probably best and given that the wedding will be in a cold drafty barn I have no interest in baring arms.

Budget up to £300 for a smashing dress though would prefer to spend less if I can get away with it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

And I’ve also got some great ideas here if all else fails.

You could also look at:

Justine Tabak

and

Klements

and

Kemi Telford

who all do lovely and not identikit dresses that would work for less formal daytime celebration.

The violet butterfly one you linked is gorgeous. I think it’s just too far out of my price range though.

Can H give you £65 as an early Christmas present? Stunning isn't it? I can think of a million places to wear it to as well. Hope you have a lovely day.

The pink velvet one is beautiful. Definitely nicer than that expensive one imo.

Pink velvet one sold out in my size 😡Sold out in everything but 16.

Just saw these on Boden
https://www.boden.com/products/tulle-ruffle-maxi-dress-viola-purple Though it says it’s a maxi length it looks midi on model and comes in petite

https://www.boden.com/products/natalia-long-sleeve-tea-dress-red-delicate-carnation

https://www.boden.com/products/cassie-devore-midi-tea-dress-pink-peony-dainty-medley

https://www.boden.com/products/tilda-velvet-midi-dress-vibrant-pink A safe choice though I’d want to zhuzh it up with accessories. Even on the models it looks a little boring though I love the colour.

Tulle Ruffle Maxi Dress-Viola Purple

It doesn’t get much more romantic than ruffles and sheer sleeves. Swoon. And while the spot print might be subtle, this midi dress is anything but.

Oh what a shame. I don't like the Boden ones, sorry.

OP if you're still after the pink MV dress, I'd phone the stores and see if they have one. Often they will send items direct to you (although not sure how returns work)

The first and third Boden dresses are beautiful and wedding suitable. But you may need something over them to keep warm, a wrap, cardi or jacket.
