High end work trousers to wear on Tues - where from?

I need nice smart boring work trousers to wear on Tues and I've left it really late. I plan to wear a turquoise Whistles shirt (striped with thin white) so think I want black or charcoal wool trousers, straight leg.

Ive just tried John Lewis and M+S and drawn a blank. Help! I live in a big city so can manage many real shops. Edinburgh, if it helps.

I tried Jaeger in M+ S and the bum was oddly baggy and flat. I'm a 10/12, prob a 12 if I tuck the shirt in.

Where haven't I thought of? I did a quick run through Hobbs and nothing jumped out, but maybe I should have spent longer? I don't like shopping so I put it off and regret it. Big presentation next week, want to feel good (and have just had a haircut).

Reiss?

bigbadbernard · 14/11/2025 20:35

Reiss had nothing but I'll head to St James tomorrow. Hadn't thought of Me +Em.

Jigsaw?

Arket? And Cos.

You could also try uniqlo, I've got some really nice 100% wool trousers from there.

I always think Uniqlo work trousers look expensive - they'll turn them up (if needed) for you too

Another vote for &other stories. Funnily enough though my absolute favourite work trousers are from Oliver Bonas! Wide leg, so smart and flattering and have washed well. I’m a weird apple shape and tall so have a complete nightmare with smart trousers.

Reiss next day delivery from Next. I’ve just bought these for work and they are SO flattering!

How high end do they have to be? Next do work suits and offer two or three styles of trouser. They are utterly dull but non-shiny and so always did what I needed them to do for work.
Jigsaw?
Hobbs?

GlasgowGal2014 · 14/11/2025 22:58

My go to shop for work trousers is now River Island after getting a tip from a friend last year. They're not wool, but they do great wide legged trousers with pleats at the front that are really smart and comfortable. They have them in black, dark green and burgundy this winter.

My best work trousers are Hobbs. If I needed them in a hurry I'd order via John Lewis next day click and collect. Or Next.

Thanks all, really helpful. Wish I was a more organised person.

I got a lovely black pair from Abercrombie, which is a shop I generally don’t go to.

Rosesarere · 15/11/2025 13:08

Cos or Arket would be my first choice for wool work trousers

mixedcereal · 15/11/2025 13:11

Mango?

NotGalinda · 15/11/2025 13:12

Hobbs is now my go to for work trousers. Possibly depends how tall you are, I really like sezanne trousers but im too short for most of them. Although I've found their cropped trousers work well on me as full length
