Fair Isle jumper - just for Christmas?

I was given this lovely jumper for Christmas last year and haven't worn it yet

The advert itself says wear in Autumn 😆 but are Fair Isles just for Christmas?

You can only wear it at Christmas. Most people don't know this but in fact, Fair Isle is underwater for most of the year. When the tide goes out on 1 December the island appears out of the waters and the locals (who are all a mermaid-type creature) earn a living through knitting and other crafts from the wool of the rare Fair Isle mersheep until the tide comes back in again on 6 January.

(For the avoidance of doubt, the above may have been in jest. You can wear a fair isle knit whenever you like.)

It's about protecting a specific high quality product from generic imitations.
Primark won't ever have sold Fair Isle jumpers, but I'm sure they would have sold mock Fair Isle, while calling it Fair Isle.

I have a similar weird fish jumper and no I don’t just bring it out at Christmas

however, I find the climate is rarely cold enough to justify bringing it out. At least not my house or office.
