Thinking of getting one of these gold metallic camera bags.
Friend tells me it’s a bit too much bling for everyday life, work, school run etc.
Are these supposed to go only to specific occasions like weddings, party ( I don’t go to any of these)

I think they are nice. I can imagine using one if I was dressed respectably in the day. I think that sort of bag might look a bit odd if you were in wellies and going round Tescos though.

Thank you.
Thats the thing, it would be around Tesco mainly, though not in wellies but trainers, jeans, middle age..
I like them but I don’t want to look weird…

Ive got a very cool Prada bag. Not metallic but shiny and slightly blingy. Bought it for the same reason to use in the daytime and it just doesn't work. It looks very odd with my scruffy clothes..like I've pinched it from some well dressed glamorous lady.

Yes, I had gold bag before too and when trying it with my daily clothes it just looked weird, like going out bag.
But I still like them, especially the Pom Pom London on the photo, the one with the panels, was about to get one..

I have a little gold bag and a little silver bag similar to these and am just pondering when and where I wear them. I use them a lot going out in the evening, occasionally in the day if I'm going for lunch or something and am dressed vaguely nicely. If I was working in an office I might wear one in the summer but probably not in winter (don't ask me to explain that, it would just feel wrong). I wouldn't wear one to Tesco. BUT I think if I had a big metallic leather tote I would happily grab that to go to the supermarket regardless of what I was wearing - I guess it just feels less formal/structured to grab a big tote you can throw everything in. When I was younger I had a massive glittery tote type bag from Accessorize (think giant disco ball) that went absolutely everywhere regardless of outfit.

I use a gold one in the summer quite a lot- it’s quite a dull gold so doesn’t feel too
blingy with a summer dress or for work style outfits - black trousers and a shirt type look

Just seen @evilharpy said summer too- I have no idea why it works better in the summer!!

ozarina · 13/11/2025 10:37

Use the bag! 😀

I very much like metallic bags but haven't bought one as I'm not sure how I would style one. Having said that the bags you are looking at would look great in the summer whilst on holiday.

Yeah, with large metallic tote, it somehow doesn’t look that bling for some reason,
years ago I had bronze large bag and it was my day bag. But with those small camera bags it just look s a bit out of space..
