I have had a big night out planned for tomorrow for a while and have been really looking forward to it.

But…

  • My period started early and I feel so gross.
•I have a massive pink spot on my face. •My skin isn’t glowing like it was a couple of weeks ago and is quite dull. I use Elizabeth Arden products which usually work a dream on my skin, but the last couple of weeks it just looks dull. • I feel exhausted, and have been fighting off a cold all week. • My face looks puffy all over. • Under eyes are darker than they have been recently. • My hair looks dull.

I’m working all day today followed by taking the children to after school clubs and cooking etc, then I have work tomorrow and then will be getting ready to go out - I have no time to go and get a facial, go to the hairdressers etc. I can of course do little things for myself this evening and throughout today and tomorrow while working (depending on what they are!).

Please advise me on any ways to help me feel better about myself, and to try and reverse or improve some of the above issues.

Thank you!

I have a work function tomorrow and feeling pretty rubbish too…

My plan so far is:

  • bath and tan
  • drink loads and loads of water
  • collagen face mask
  • tint brows

That sounds like a good plan, and I hope you’re able to feel better and enjoy your function.

I haven’t drank any water yet today, this is clearly where I’m going wrong, but I will start now!

I don’t tan nor tint, but I’ll of course be having a lovely shower - and yes, I have a collagen face mask, somewhere.

Is your outfit for tomorrow comfortable? I find that a huge help if I’m going out and I either have my period or am pre-menstrual, if I feel comfortable (no tight waistband or anything itchy) then it helps me feel more confident. If you suffer with pain, a paracetamol or ibuprofen an hour before you go out.

for the spot, it might be too late to buy any, but if you have any spot dot things, like the Starface ones, they are so good at calming red spots down. I used one of teen DDs and it was so good that I got my own! Put it on overnight.

Then the usual, lovely shower, wash and style hair, maybe some product and blow dry upside down if you like it big. Nice perfume and red lipstick always make me feel more together than I actually am, and massive hoop earrings.

water and a good sleep if you can, and then most of all, have a great time

Thank you for your reply. I saw it in time but didn’t have time to respond.

I felt a lot better about my appearance last night and had a good time.

One of my Daughters uses the star face patches but I didn’t think to use one!

I drank lots of water, had a good sleep, steamed my face and used a face scrub a couple of times and slathered my face in Elizabeth Arden night cream and then the regular day one.

On the night itself I applied foundation and concealer on my spot which I haven’t bothered with for a while and then rose face mist over the top for a little glow. I also did a big blow dry like you suggested and used eyeliner on top and bottom as that always makes me feel and look better!
