Wide leg jeans for short apple shaped?

Twobigbabies · 12/11/2025 12:05

So I'm finally trying embrace the wide leg jean trend and ordered a few but they look awful. I'm 5ft3 size 10-12 but carry all my weight round the middle- small bum, thin legs. Have any apples found a pair in short length which doesn't make them look completely squat/shapeless?

you need low waisted ones IME, only Hollister seem to do them atm.
You would hve to have them taken up

winnieanddaisy · 12/11/2025 12:12

I’m apple shaped with thin arms and legs and also need petite length and I look like a clown in any wide legged jeans or trousers. I can get away with very wide palazzo pants but look best in straight legged or even skinny jeans ( which are a bit loose on me) 😂

Yeah they don't look great
I have taken to wearing flares/bootcut instead which look better on us apples

Thank you! I was wondering about having some long ones taken up.

Thank you! Yes I think it's somewhere between flares and wide leg that I'm looking for. Was hoping it would be a short lived fad.

Haha yes I love my skinny jeans, so easy to hide the tummy and show off the legs! Hoping they will be back soon!

I thought I’d found them in M&S and New look but they are too wide on the hips and thighs but I need that size to fit on the belly.
The only ones that look ok are from River Island. They are extra short and called relaxed straight.

AutumnNymph · 12/11/2025 12:57

Another 5 feet 2 inch apple here. I dont care if skinnies are no longer in trend, they look the best on me. I have a few Halara bootcut ones whjch are fine too and Levis straight leg. However i think i will continue to stick to skinnies.

KathyDuck · 12/11/2025 12:58

Halara.

I read something the other day which said if you have finally decided to embrace a fashionable style of jeans it is too late already 😆 Best just to wear what you like! I went into Hollister the other week and all the boot cut/flared jeans were marked down, when I asked why they said they are the "new fashion" but they were having a problem getting the yoof to accept this and they were clinging to the wide legged styles!

WhyDoesItAlways · 12/11/2025 13:05

Im an apple and struggle so badly to get any trousers that fit my apple stomach but don't look ridiculously baggy around the hips and crotch. I have recently discovered these wide leg uniqlo jeans that fit perfectly. Their jersey curve trousers are great too. They do a short length and some have the option to be tailored too.

You can get these in short they are nice
Women's Low-Rise Y2K Dark Wash Baggy Jeans | Women's Bottoms | HollisterCo.com

I find the lower waist (and it's not super low) means that all the material doesn't gather around your midriff when you sit down, and also they hang well

Coffeeclair · 12/11/2025 13:58

I'm in love with these. Got them in blue and black. They fit around the middle (but not high waisted, which I can't stand) and then barrel out beautifully, so I don't feels swamped. I'm short too, and I have a small waist and big ass, but these are really flattering - and I tried on A LOT

I am slightly more hourglass but have a tummy so I usually dress somewhere in the middle of the two shapes.

next do some straight leg jeans that are £29. On me, they are much more wide leg than straight as I have sized up. They are a proper rigid denim but in the size bigger they are comfortable and look great!

Unfortunately what suits someone with a small waist and big hips is unlikely to work on an apple shape!

PuppyMonkey · 12/11/2025 16:30

They look awful on you because wide leg trousers look awful on everyone. Grin

They look amazing on my size 8 dd, an hourglass!

I have the same problem and the same Uniqlo jeans! I have a short torso which causes the baggy crotch issue

I can also recommend Nudie Jeans Clean Eileen but they have a low rise wide leg too that I want to try.

Imagine how much more amazing she’d look in nice trousers. Wink

As a short apple with a short torso I actually find this style surprisingly flattering! I got mine from Sainsburys.

They give the impression of bigger hips which balance out the apple shape. Skinner jeans make me look like a cake pop

Well actually she looks better in this shape than any other as she has a large bottom and big hips which can look more chunky in tighter styles despite being very slim, but she has a tiny waist so she wears them low slung on her hips and looks amazing.

So, would these suit me - small waist, wide but not huge hips/bum but tummy is ok. Not flat, those days are long gone, but not large

Haha so true this is me! Barrel jeans seem to have replaced the wide leg but these really do make me look like a clown.

Recommend these from hush which come in a short length and are good for apples https://www.hush-uk.com/rowan-2.0-flared-jeans-green-blue-denim/013367-4784.html. But actually a game changer for me was booking one of the ‘express’ free John Lewis personal stylist appointments, saying I wanted to find the perfect wide leg jeans. I hate Jean shopping soooo much so it was great having someone getting loads of pairs for me to try on and then advising me on what looked best! They didn’t have the short leg in stock on the day but the longer length convinced me enough of the style and I ordered them
