I'm going to Paris and don't know what to wear!

Well, other than warm clothes! I am spending two days in Paris next week with dh. The forecast is going to be single digits and rain, carry on luggage and i am good at packing light.

We are going to get there about midday and mooch around for a bit before (and this is the bit that makes it tricky) seeing a gig in the evening. The gig will be hot, shouty and I might get beer spilt on me.

I was planning on chunky but comfortable black ankle boots, tights and a mini skirt for both days. I have found this skirt which I am really drawn to. https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc146720191

It's a lot jazzier than what I normally wear but I am oddly drawn to it! Would I just look odd walking round Paris the next day though? Coat wise I am hoping that my lovely oversized wool one will be OK with an umbrella. To go to the gig I am just going to ditch the coat and wear a wool jumper that can be tied around my waist, I think the place is close to the hotel.

I have never been to Paris before, I am oddly nervous!

Also - no one has been rude to me as a tourist, it seems like Parisians just … don’t care to court tourists in the way others do. Not rude; just not fussed. I’m here for work solo and it’s been perfectly fine.

There’s places to buy berets everywhere but the only people I’ve seen wearing them are Americans posing for photos by the Louvre.

I remember once we got to montparnasse and had a 2 hour wait to get another train down south...except after about an hour in I realised that the other train went from a different station the other side of Paris, so we had to skedaddle and we were running here there and everywhere trying to find the way to go, the metro, which line, where to get off and walk, and Every Single Parisien/ne we spoke to at every stage to get directions were just incredibly amazing and friendly and helpful!

Help, missed Child benefit online return for October . Due to illness & lots of other issues Anyone do the paper return any tips & is t a smooth process? Or is it better to just let them collect via the higher earner salary?

I’m on the Eurostar heading back from 24 hours in Paris right now, so feel qualified to answer this! Everyone is in wide trousers or short skirts with tights. Boxy blazer jackets (lots of tweed) and longline trenches. Trainers, brogues and clumpy boots. Not a heel to be seen! Bonus points if you have a huge scarf to throw around your neck/ shoulders. And if you’re wearing any colour aside from black, brown and navy - OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!

I’ve seen plenty of outliers too on my 2 hour walk through the main bits today. Wear what you want. Just make sure it’s layers (I am boiled in a blazer, trench and backpack carrying my worldly goods - it’s warm here) and as others have said - comfy shoes!!

My jumper is tan and I think I have settled on my navy curved uniqlo trousers as they are both wide and off the floor so good in rain, my head will remain attached! I am in need of a new scarf so perfect excuse to get one!

I generally don't care how I dress. Well, I do obviously, I'm here in S&B, but I very comfortable in what I wear and know what I like, adding on trend bits when I like them. But also go full hiking boots and sensible coat when I need to walk to the train station in winter, I want grippy footwear over style! As I was dreading this trip, feeling a but sick whenever I thought about it, now I'm only very slightly feeling like that I'm trying to really look forward to it. It will also be the longest I have spent with just dh since dd1 was born 11 years ago!

Dd1 has reminded us that we have to buy her a beret!
