I don’t know how to dress for winter!

Help please.

I basically lived in wide-leg jeans, tees or vests all summer, sometimes shorts or loose dresses with trainers or sandals. Now it’s getting wet and cold, my wide jeans aren’t working and I’ve switched to chunky boots but don’t know what to wear. I wore patterned leggings and an oversized sweatshirt today and felt happy in this but I know style wise it’s not great. Thinking about trying skirts with long-sleeve tops or thin jumpers. I’m 5'2, size 8-10, casual style, like loose fits, and shop on a budget (mostly Vinted). Any outfit ideas?

Hmm … I wonder if, being conscious of your budget and Vinted shopping preference, you omit the crucial step of routinely browsing every possible contemporary shop / brand / whatever - so that you would always have an idea in your head of stylish outfit options?

You don’t have to intend to buy from them, but it’s useful if you occasionally browse sites for inspiration. Try:

I still wear wide leg trousers in winter but not so long as they drag on the ground. I wear thermal tights underneath with ankle boots.

As well as looking on stores websites, it might help you to follow a few insta fashion people who have a similar body shape & height to you and who’s style you like. Not just the paid try ons, but the daily shots of what they have worn to leave the house and do the school run etc.

I wear "mini flares". Various shops sell them. I have a few mini flare jeans from Zara, and some mini flare corduroy trousers from Boden. They sit an inch above my ankle. I wear them with a tucked in, ribbed merino poloneck sweater from Uniqlo, and Sambas.
I appreciate that doesn't necessarily match your budget or preference for loose fit, but thought suggestions may be helpful.
I also wear a Levis, long sleeve denim dress with black tights and either black Sambas, or boots. And a corduroy mini skirt with the same Uniqlo sweater and tights and boots. And a Uniqlo cashmere sweater dress with tights and boots.

Thank you. These are all such helpful suggestions. Off to google some shops and browse instagram for inspiration, that is exactly what I need.

I had a browse in a few shops after work tonight and came to the same conclusion!! There’s some lovely jumpers around but I’ve no idea where I’d wear them without baking to death and a lot of tops are cropped or very boxy which just isn’t my thing, or they’re so short I don’t know how anyone over 5ft is wearing them! Next was literally half full of sequins and party gear which can go to hell too. Leggings and hoodie it is then!
