Comfy evening shoes for woman over 55

I have nothing to wear with my lovely sparkly evening dresses.

I need a small heel as completely flat bothers my tendon. But nothing high, or too spindly for my knees sake. Black, gold or silver all ok, although black is probably best. Ankle straps dont look good on me although I dont mind a mary jane style.

Any suggestions? I am just in despair at finding something.

The comfiest shoes ever are Solebliss and they do lots of styles but they are a bit pricey

CMOTDibbler · 09/11/2025 19:34

I came on to say SoleBliss too. I have really tricky feet and can wear their lovely Ruby sandals without pain.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 09/11/2025 21:04

Thank you all - never heard of either of these and some lovely options on each - the Ruby sandals are amazing btw!

I would recommend mid heel sandals or shoes from Esska. They have a hidden platform and are extremely comfortable and easy to walk/dance in.

Goodness, @Hotflushesandchilblains - you’ve made me realise I haven’t encountered a chilblain since the late 1960s. And even then it was only at second hand. A relative of mine claimed to have them after regularly driving long distances for work - but I’m not sure I ever knew exactly what they were at the time.

Anyhow … Take a look at:

Penelope Chilvers

Hereu Studio A selection is generally available on various multi-brand sites but you can see the whole collection on their own site.

Lanx Because evening dresses can often be enhanced by sturdy footwear.

Grenson Ditto. (And these are the best!)

Whatever you choose, it’s definitely worth spending money on your feet - and looking after yourself, so you can enjoy the season properly.

Or Air and Grace Dancing Queen heels. They come in gold, silver and there is a similar sandal in black. Like the Esska they are designed in London, made in Portugal from lovely leathers and have great padding underfoot

RuncibleSpoons · 09/11/2025 22:56

I’m not 55, and that’s hardly orthopaedic shoe territory, but Esska shoes are unbelievably comfortable. I have a few pairs and I’ve never worn them without someone asking me about them.

Thank you all - @PaquitaSalas - those are lovely and another brand I dont know. @EscapadeVelocity - totally with you - I am going to prioritize spending on good shoes, I just really cant do cheap, unsupportive ones any more. Its slightly disheartening to see how even quite pricey brands dont always have good construction.

I am slightly scared of platforms @threescoops ! But all the ones on this thread are so cute.
