Cheap mens belt for dress trousers

And I mean cheap

OH has a jacket and bow tie thing. I bought some trousers in Sainsburys which could be worn with it, although its not exactly a colour match, hopefully wont show in dim lighting

But he needs to hold the trousers up. Belt or braces?

If he has a belt, what sort of belt, are there 'evening belts' for men?

Usually find plenty in charity shops. Or TK Maxx

I suppose what Im asking, is, what do they look like.

That might sound a bit dim but we dont have any exposure to 'evening dress', so for example, there are a couple on the SAinsburys website, one of them is dirt cheap, a reversible black and brown one. But Im not sure if the buckle looks like the sort of belt that you wear with jeans, rather than smart trousers

Is there a difference?

If you mean black tie (tuxedo) generally there wouldn’t be a belt (cummerbund would be very formal). I’d go with braces if the trousers can’t be adjusted to fit at the waist.

I'd not bother with the belt otherwise, or try the supermarket or charity shop.

Something like Men's Buckle Waist Belt Casual Clothing Belt 2025 - GBP £6

Well the trousers fit, in that he has a 38 inch waist and the trousers are 38 but like most men, he needs something to hold them up as he doesnt actually hav an indent to keep the trousers up, aka a waist!

I found a cheap belt in sainsburys today, see how that looks and then perhaps go with the braces. He wouldnt be quite as formal as a cumberband thing.

Could you borrow a belt?

Something like this is fairly inexpensive:
