Where to buy cashmere jumper for DP?

brahmsandnegroni · 07/11/2025 10:25

I would like to buy DP a good quality cashmere jumper for Christmas. He is tall and generally large so would probably need a maximum size. I would be very grateful for any suggestions as to where I might find something suitable.

I saw a tv show that said m&s is actually a good mix.of quality / thickness vs price

MidnightPatrol · 07/11/2025 10:28

How much do you want to spend?

brahmsandnegroni · 07/11/2025 10:32

Up to about £250 but could be more or less (not too much more).

I bought my tall dad a lovey cashmere jumper from the tall section of Lands End a few years ago. Lovely quality if they still do them and a great fit

HostaCentral · 07/11/2025 13:19

Bought DH a cashmere quarter zip from M&S last year. Really lovely.

I just tried on a cos cashmere jumper and now regretting every life every life decision I’ve ever made that I can’t afford to spend £170 on it! They have men’s too and are so much more luxurious than other high street brands

Raera · 07/11/2025 13:29

I second Lands End tall
DH has also had good casual shirts from there as well. He's 6'6" and 2xl

Falconeri has THE BEST cashmere. Honestly, far far better than Cos and Uniqlo. It is truly the kind of cashmere sweater that you will have for life. Less expensive cashmere has a shorter length of hairs in the fiber, so it is far more likely to pill. That's also why it looks thinner, more see-through, whereas the Falconeri cashmere is both densely woven and incredibly soft. All my sweaters are now Falconeri I didn't believe the difference until I bought one.

Great suggestions, I am researching, thank you!

tougholdbirdy · 07/11/2025 17:59

Woolovers are reasonable and good quality

defrazzled · 07/11/2025 18:00

ooooo if you're spending that much look here, I have never managed to get one in the sale cheap enough but they are gorgeous!

I’ve bought a couple for DH from John Lewis over the last couple of years - he likes the fit, and I think JL cashmere is pretty good.

barrywhite99 · 07/11/2025 21:37

I bought one for my DH from Selfridges, on Black Friday, a few years ago. Excellent quality, about £200. I came on to say though, do NOT accidentally put it in the wash. I did, after DH had worn it once. It wouldn’t have fitted a toddler after I washed it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Ruthietuthie · 07/11/2025 22:31

Not all cashmere is equal. I also have a Johnsons of Elgin cashmere and the quality of the Falconeri one is better - more densely woven, less fluffy, less tending to pill, and obviously made from longer fibers. I would say that the Falconer one is as good as the ridiculously expensive Italian brand cashmere sweaters like Brunello Cucinelli (which is REALLY really expensive - in the thousands...)

Thank you all so much for your recommendations!
