Bought one in black but finding it hard to style without looking huge. Im a size 18, most of weight on belly. Tried trainers and a blouse, didnt work. Any tips?

Try a cropped (not midriff cropped obvs) shorter top that is straight/loose fitting. Sounds counterintuitive but it works if you get the proportions right.

I'd wear it with a fitted top and chunky cardi .

@Leavesfalling could you post an example? what shoes would you recommend?

Im an apple and the only way i would wear that is with a fitted black top and a contrasting open/vneck cardigan, or sleeveless something.

I wouldnt choose to buy a maxi skirt. Dresses are a bit different because you get the full line

Ok this is obviously nothing like what your skirt will be and I'm not suggesting so short that your midriff shows but its just an example of proportions. I find as an apple if you wear a long skirt, a baggy or long top gives you no waist and makes you (me) look huge. And a fitted top just highlights a stomach. So if you wear a straight cropped top or even a jumper with a v neck or off the shoulder you get a waist but it doesn't cling to your tummy. If you see what I mean.

I'm surprised trainers dont look good. What about platform converse? Or if that's no good maybe chunky flat boots. I personally dont like anything delicate or high heeled with a maxi but that's just me.

A cotton shirt?I'm an apple and wearing a striped shirt with that now. Gives a bit of structure. I think I'll try french tucking a jumper when the weather is colder.
Really loving my denim maxi.
