Christmas lunch at a posh hotel, with a geographical complication

Until now all my Christmases have occurred in chillyish parts of the northern hemisphere. This year it'll be in Australia.

Not sure what I'd wear to a hotel Christmas lunch anywhere in the world, but especially stumped by the prospect of Queensland in the heat of summer.

If it’s posh, won’t it have air conditioning? That could affect what you could wear.
I had a Christmas in NZ, in a family home, eating a full on traditional Christmas dinner, sweating like mad in a very thin, strappy cotton dress. It was awful, AC would have made a world of difference!

Oh I know but even with air conditioning, it'll be hot outside! I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around a) Christmas in the heat and b) Christmas meal out. Both of those feel a bit alien to me tbh.

Yes. Christmas in Australia is weird imo. I've done it 5 times. Didn't like it. At. All.

It'll be hot outside so you'll need summer clothes with a thin wrap in case the Aircon is super cold in the hotel

I've done Christmas lunch in a restaurant a couple of times (not in Australia)

Didn't like that either (Sorry!)

Deep breath and get through it!

Thanks all. I suppose it'll be pale gauzy linen things and a wrap. I'll have to stop thinking of it as "Christmas" -- just a naice lunch out, presumably including prawns! 🍤 🍤
