Shirts to wear with leggings

I'm not ashamed to say I do love a legging, they're practical and comfy and in all honesty, if someone doesn't like how I look in them, that's their problem rather than mine.

Anyway, defensive statement complete - what I need help with is tops - Shirts specifically - to wear with them.

I love the open shirt with t-shirt paired with leggings look for casual days and it helps with layering, but I really struggle to find the right shirts to go with.

I'm short so find they either drown me or the sleeves are way too long. Or I pick shirts that are too stiff (more dress shirts), if that makes sense. So asking here for your favourite shirts to pair with a t-shirt and leggings please.

I'd like some recommendations too. I've always loved a shirt but I've bought so many that are just not right.
I did have a lovely, 3/4 sleeves, checked one in fairly thick fabric. I got it on vinted and I think it was actually a pregnancy shirt but you couldn't tell. I loved it but ended up wearing holes in it

Ha, very much my issue. I find one thing I like and wear it to death, then take 3 years trying to find a replacement I'm happy with.

I’d love a cord shirt to wear with leggings in the winter but I’m yet to find a good one!

There are some great flannel shirts around this season that would be perfect for this. Try Uniqlo men’s department, H&M had some too. Or above denim shirt? For smarter a crisp white shirt.

I usually just get my plaid flannel shirts from Primark. They always work for me with an oversized tee underneath.
Although that look is too cold for me now, its jumper weather!😀

I’ve got a couple of these (my favourite is the khaki green but I have on with the blue stripe too). I wear them tucked into jeans but they feel like they’d cover a bum in leggings if you’re short, there’s a lot of excess fabric to tuck into jeans!

Sorry about the huge link! I've got this shirt in a plum colour that I bought on ebay. It's really nice to wear. It does come up big, you'll need to downsize.

Solid-colored shirts or checked shirts are very stylish

I got a suedette style shirt in Morrisons a couple of weeks back. It's got a slightly longer back than front - so great for over leggings. I wear it layered with a t-shirt.

I've just bought a very soft blue checked shirt from next btw. Only weird thing is it has press studs not buttons

I like the same match around the house also I believe fitted shirts are so feminine. My favourite are 100% cotton lumberjack flannel shirts from Superdry (very soft in classic autumn patterns, great with leggings). Great denim shirts I can recommend are from Levi’s or Wrangler (but I only pick 100% cotton, more stiff - denim🤷‍♀️).
