Velvet trousers yay or nay?

are velvet trousers too old fashioned?
I’ve got a Christmas drinks party early December. Don’t fancy a dress as they always feel a bit frumpy and overdressed.

so I’m wondering about velvet trousers?
Where to start looking?
some on Boden but not great reviews about sizing. Me+Em all look very long.
size 14/16 depending on brand. Up to around £300 for the full outfit.

I bought a pair from Kite and they're lovely, as well as very comfortable.

I got 2 pairs of velvet trousers last year in midnight blue and burgundy. They are great for when it's frosty or snow around as so warm. Go well with boots too. I might try finding a pair in black.

I think velvet is gorgeous and classy, go for the most expensive pair you can afford. I much prefer cigarette style to wide leg. With a satin or silk blouse I think they look very chic

I really like the look of the shape of the House of Bruar ones.

ideas for a blouse anyone?

Weirdly Lands End also do excellent velvet jeans and in a petite length too. Lots of different colours. Beware - the navy is not midnighty enough IMHO. They run quite large - the smallest ones are quite roomy for me and I’m a UK 6-8 normally. Think that’s a US4 on their site.

I love them, I have several styles, bought over the years from Gap, John Lewis, M & S, Zara, bring them out every Christmas! My favourites though are actually by Tu last year, £22, wide leg, side pockets, flat front, got them in the burgundy, but then bought the navy and black, they’re so flattering.

Cigarette style sounds lovely - from where please?

I bought some a few years ago from Next. I also got a pair from Popsy, an online store. These ones are very much Christmas trousers as a bit sparkly too
