What colour goes well with dark/bottle green?

Got a lovely bottle green jumper and wondered what colour trousers or jeans will go really well? I've got black but also navy or rust.

What colour goes well with dark/bottle green?

Yes to a late brunch in November I'd say

OuterSpaceCadet · 22/10/2025 13:17

I'd go for it with the rust trousers myself! Also mustard, pale lilac, navy. It's a really versatile colour.

I've a similar jumper and plan on wearing it with a knee length leopard print skirt and flats

It'd look good with steel grey also

I'd avoid brown, you'll look like a tree 🌴

So a leopard in the bush? 😆

Pale lilac is a beautiful suggestion!

That's lovely OP! Sadly no medium sizes left, but will keep an eye on that site.

This is another great shop if anyone is looking for vintage style clothing (Falkland is where they filmed part of Outlander, it's a gorgeous village) vintagequine.com/vintage-inspired-clothing

Copper/rust/ginger would look great. I thing it would look amazing with vintage style jeans with turn ups.

OK another question do you think wearing this would work for a boozy brunch late November??

It would be perfect! Warm enough in case you're sat near the door and a draught, but not too thick if the venue is hot.

tomorrowtoblerone · 22/10/2025 14:34

Light grey

Doggymummar · 22/10/2025 14:43

I would go bright pink, but I have been accused of dopamine dressing. Today it's navy and orange. Tomorrow is actually bottle green satin skirt and pink mohair jumper.

Do you tend to overheat? would a camisole work underneath if it gets too hot?
In principle, I think it's fine for a pub lunch near the festive season. but I personally get very warm when I drink 😅and some have roaring open fire, so prefer layers in pubs.

I think keeping vintage to a piece instead of the whole item is a more realistic way of dressing, if the whole outfit is vintage is will look like a costume or a period photoshoot... it's definitely better the way you do it pairing it with modern pieces.

Not really, I'm usually a cold person. Also live in a village and this brunch is in a city so got travelling by train etc so want to be cosy also 😂 camisole is a good idea. And totally agree sticking with a piece rather than whole outfit.

I love this shop! They had this jumper too but now out of stock. They have another Banned Retro jumper style in the green and other colours. Plus lots of other knitwear that I can't afford 😂 but lusting after.

Lovely jumper! I'd go with tweedy wool-mix trousers for the full His Girl Friday look - maybe brown or taupe mix

DaringlyDizzy · 22/10/2025 17:03

Loved it so much, came back to the thread to see if link posted, found it online and went to buy ti but its out of stock!

JillMW · 22/10/2025 19:20

Cream wide leg. I think denim will look very odd.

Seabubbles · 22/10/2025 19:51

I'm an apple shape with huge boobs and I'd love to wear this but I fear it wouldn't suit me at all

Oh no! Hopefully they restock it soon. They have it in burgundy as well.

greens that appear in nature are good with most colours, thinking about it, that shade of green would be the one many plant leaves/stems so would look good with most shades.

Green is one of my favourite neutrals for this reason. It’s so common in nature it looks good with most things.

However that said, echo previous posters that bright reds might look a bit “festive”. (Add a bit of sparkle and that would make a cute “Christmas season day time event” outfit. )

It's actually got a bit more room in it than normal retro styles which tend to be more fitted / clingy.

Yes that makes sense and I hadn't thought about stems and colour of flowers!

Definitely think can dress it up a bit for Christmas season as well.

I’m rubbish at fashion but dark blue jeans was the first think that came to my mind, or white/cream trousers

Aussiegold · 22/10/2025 23:24

Lovely top, what is their sizing like as there is quite a bit on the website I could go for....

louderthan · 23/10/2025 08:58

Pink!

Rust/burnt orange and any reddish browns would be perfect. Wine or dark crimson or plum colours would work too.
