Jewel coloured cropped cords recommendations please

I am trying to get out of my "uniform" of Lucy and yak jeans and I am have noticed lots of people wearing very nice flattering cropped wideleg cords. I am keen to try some jewel coloured cropped cords with a modern shape to them. Ideally dark emerald green or deep burgandy /red.
I am a size 12 hourglass shape in case that is relevant and like to wear up to date styles but could probably do with getting a bit better at it. I would love to look effortlessly modern with clean lines but I have a grubby sort of lifestyle so I realise that there is a bit of a conflict. Am hoping cords can bridge that gap?

Maybe black or grey cords would be better? Other trouser recommendations also welcomed in case I have it totally wrong!

TLDR please recommend me some modern shaped cropped trousers which are practical for an active person but are a bit smarter than jeans.

I bought a navy pair last year and they are my favourite item of clothing. The fabric is so soft. If I only buy one thing this winter it will be another pair of these.
