Help me find some mid-rise, stretchy skinny jeans!

My last pair of trusty comfy skinny jeans has given up 😭 they were years old and a hole as formed in an inappropriate place!

I know skinny jeans probably aren't in fashion anymore but they're the best to fit inside my winter boots.

I find the high waisted jeans cut into me when I sit down and are so uncomfortable so would love recommendations to find mid-rise jeans which are also nice and soft and a bit stretchy if such a thing still exists!

My old pairs were Dorothy Perkins Frankie jeans but the new versions seem to assume you have the calf muscles of a child.

Budget?

Myfridgeiscool · 18/10/2025 09:05

Dorothy Perkins jeans used to be great, I agree that they are tight. I could wear them as compression socks on a flight.
Just bought some low rise skinnies from Levi’s - love them.

I love Calzedonia skinny jeans. Their thermal ones are lovely in the winter - they have a thin fleece lining. They aren’t high on the waist and have a good amount of stretch to them.

I’d try River Island Molly or New Look Amie.

Loads in Primark currently. Definitely not out of fashion there. I bought some fabulous flare fit ones there this week for the princely sum of £8.

Take a look at M & S Jean range. I wear The Lily slim which although aren’t labelled as skinnies, pretty much are. Also I would say they are midrise. They are very reasonably priced too.

I have a pair of Jigsaw dark wash mid rise skinny jeans for sale on eBay at £10, as new. Size 32. As new. PM me if you’d like some pics.

Branleuse · 18/10/2025 10:04

try primark. They have loads.

Next and New Look are my go to for jeans. Their skinny jeans have always been great and both do a range of cuts and fit.
I also picked up a pair secondhand with a label I didn’t recognise, which apparently came from Peacocks. They are more stretchy jegging style and they have been excellent.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 18/10/2025 10:14

Deffo M&S they have skinnies still, different rises too. I second the Lily someone upthread has recommended - I don’t actually mine because they are too skinny! So recommend if you want a skinny fit.

Could you tell me a bit about how these are? Mostly how they are on the body? I’m only about 5’1”, but am very much apple shaped, coupled with quite a distended abdomen, for reasons unknown atm, so need leggings which won’t cut me in half. Most tights etc do come up quite high on my body naturally anyway, due to a short body. But I’ve just been looking at this site and they seem to do some good options for thermal/plush lined leggings and tights. I particularly like the footless tights, and leggings and the option of the thermal shiny leggings isn’t something I’ve seen elsewhere. Have you tried/bought any of these and if so how are they on sizing? I’m not that bothered about them being long on the leg as I usually wear boots anyway, but also don’t want them loose on the hips/legs, but my large waist/abdomen and my smaller hips are finding it so hard to actually get something to fit!
Sorry, lots of questions (and I’ve read some of the reviews as well), but would be good to hear your experience if you don’t mind? Thank you!

Levi’s 721 , high waisted skinny , stretchy and my go to favourite style , although they’re high rise , I’m sure they’d similar in mid . Levi’s last forever

SliceofTosst · 18/10/2025 13:41

They come to just below my belly button and there is a nice amount of stretch in them, so I never feel like they’re cutting into me in any way, even when I’m bloated. I’m very much an apple shape as well and these fit me perfectly around the waist and hips thanks to the stretch in them. Tbh they feel more like leggings on than jeans

Thanks all. Might have to have a trip into town to try some primark and new look ones. Have tried M&S but not found ones that are soft enough in store.

Charity shops have almost exclusively skinny jeans in at the moment, or Vinted will have the exact pair you’re replacing for next to nothing.

randomgeneratedusername1 · 18/10/2025 20:35

I had the same problem as you so I went into next and tried some different sizes and styles out I found the perfect fitting pair they were £30 I didn’t buy them I went on vinted I got 3 pairs of them in 3 different colours and for just under £20 !
