Baby born with highlights

My baby son was born 5 weeks ago with a full head of hair and blonde highlights! I thought natural highlights were caused by the sun, and I guess that didn't shine too often in my womb!! Has anybody come across this before, or have any ideas what may have caused the highlights?

Was he wearing stonewashed denim too?

I dunno. Did you drink bleach when you were pg?

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/06/2008 20:54

No bleach, I did eat a hell of a lot of sherbet fountains though!!!

I thought he had a nice suntan too - turned out to be jaundice!

ROLF at sun tan!!!!!

lol at the suntan!

Some people have streaks of hair with little or no pigment in it, giving it a highlighted look. Could this be it

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/06/2008 20:59

The hair is brown at the roots and blonde at the tips. Also has a hint of red at the back of his head but quite dark on top. I have no idea what colour he will be eventually!

My brother had hair like this and 'til his late teens he looked like an 80s pop star, especially if he spiked it up lol

My mother claims I was born with a head of strawberry blonde curls, blonde at the tips as if they had been highlighted. Apparently the midwives kept taking me away to brush it.
I now have poker straight dirty brown-ish hair with a few auburn hairs running through naturally, but I'm a chemically highlighted blonde.

My ds's best friend age 5 and his little brother have aburn hair with gold highlights, the sort of hair you would pay ££££ to walk out of a salon with...

My dd aged 5 has mousey hair with blonde highlights - subtle but gorgeous - i had the same (fake) colouring a few years back - i hope it stays it will save her a bomb when shes older! I ate alot of egg mayo when i was pg

micci25 · 04/06/2008 22:02

when my dd was born she had jet black hair that started going blonde after about 6 months. when my friend who hadnt seen her for ages bumped into the new blonde dd1 he asked when she had her hair highted

dd1 now has a lovely set of v professional highlights all year round, sun or no sun. and no hairdressers either. some people just have hair like that.

Neena28 · 05/06/2008 09:46

Only just seen this but my dd is very blonde but with two distinct white chunks. Looks odd cos her hair is still very short even though she's nearly 3, not ever so fine but not even grown into a bob yet.

EachPeachPearMum · 05/06/2008 11:58

My dd (now 2.3) was born with very dark brown hair, which started growing through blonde from day 1- kind of reverse highlights IYSWIM.
She is starting to go brown again now though- her hair has many tones in it.
