Is this dress okay for an autumn wedding?

I'm having a total 'mare wedding guest shopping. I'm 53, 5ft 8, a curvy 16-18 and I rarely wear dresses. On the rare occasions I do am forced to, I go for navy but guests have been asked not to wear that particular shade because it's 'reserved for the bridal party'. 😶So I don't want to spend loads on a dress I know I won't wear again. I do like subtle animal print though, so what about this dress? And should I size up to an 18, just to be on safe side? Please help me, wise Style MNetters!

I love it, I think it's really smart, fun and can be worn for various occasions. For a wedding I would style it out with coloured accessories. Maybe deep wine red, burnt orange or emerald green. X

@MotherMary14 the dress you originally linked appeared to be from DP. I couldn’t possibly know you were ordering from Debenhams. If I had I’d have advised against it. (As I do on every thread I see where it’s mentioned.)

It really is a waste of your time to be angry with me.

Oh dear OP. Probably not a good time to tell you I ordered it and it was delivered this morning. Although I didn't get any information from Debenhams I did get an email from Evri.

I really like it, its very flattering on me. Just my sort of dress, can be dressed up or down, quite long as I'm a shortarse. Probably too cheap looking for the style and beauty board but I like it

Your comment was unnecessarily spiteful regardless of where I ordered from. This isn't AIBU.

It's hardly Bet Lynch! The print is subtle enough for a semi-formal wedding.

Why ask other peoples opinions if you're just going to react like that??

& no, I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

you don't have to wear a dress. It's not compulsory.

I was asking for opinions, yes, not to be branded cheap and tacky for not being able to afford a better dress.

I'm sorry it happened to you too. I had no idea they had such a bad reputation. I remember them as a decent high street brand. I don't shop online much so I just assumed because it was Debenhams it must be legit. Kicking myself now.

TBH- I've never ordered from debenhams since they were taken over by Poo-Hoo. Yes, I know its Boo-hoo, but Joe Lycett did a show about them and I always think of them as Poo-Hoo after they re-sold soiled swimwear and knickers 🤢

I agree with checking on vinted or ebay. I've heard good things about Scarlett and Jo dresses/outfits for a curvier shape, but never tried myself. (I'm a size 18 BTW).
