Black Tights and Trainers

Does anyone wear trainers with their black tights. I've got some cord mini skirts and normally wear boots, but also love trainers. I'm not sure I've seen anyone mid forties pulling off skirts and tights with trainers? I want to though!

Thanks. I can't wear heels. And this is going to sound mad after saying I wear DMs with dresses/skirts, I hate most other boots with them because I have the good fortune to have slim ankles, so they wallow and look ridiculous on me. I think I'm just fussy!

I think lace up leather brogues can look really lovely with skirts and tights on someone with dainty feet/ankles. I always look at people wearing them and think how lovely and preppy and feminine they look. I’m very tall with enormous feet though, so on me they look like men’s shoes.

It’s ankle boots all the way with tights and skirts for me.

@LaChouette , dealer boots.

Yes I would do it, though if I can get away with it I wear knee high socks with dresses (the long ones I have)

Shorter dresses yes to tights

Big no from me!

I like black leather trainers with black tights and a mini skirt. I tend to go with boots if the skirt is longer.

I’m mid forties and I do, I have these Green Steve Madden and these Puma, both Platform.. Feel like a Spice Girl.

I can’t express why, but the thought of tights with trainers makes my toes curl. Both the thought of the physical sensation and how it looks on me.

For me it’s tights with shoes or boots.

Trainers with trousers / jeans and at a very uncomfortable push a dress or maxi skirt.

Never, ever, white trainers, only ever suede ones in colours that broadly suit my outfit.

I do. But as per a pp I did it in the 90s. Am now mid-50s and still like the look with a short dress or skirt - but only with classic Adidas/Converse, and not in white, to avoid the 'my real shoes are under my desk' look.

For me it would feel a bit childish, as it reminds me of being a teenager in the 90s. It is what i used to wear back in my Grunge days (my tartan mini dress or a skirt with my converse or Airwalk).

To use Trainspotting 2 - I'd feel like a tourist in my own youth.

I literally wore a tartan mini dress and converse yesterday and I'm in my 50s!😬
In my defense though I was very shy as a teenager so I'm enjoying having fun with my clothes now I've reached the 'no f**ks given' age!😅

I think if you wore a look as a teenager, it belongs to you forever - if you want it to.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/10/2025 08:55

No problem wearing this and im 57!

defrazzled · 11/10/2025 09:06

Yes I do it all the time, I only wear trainers. I sometimes add socks, some skirt lengths make my ankles look a bit scrawny in tights but I get a lot of compliments from women and the occasional "you are odd" from men 😂.

Zanatdy · 11/10/2025 09:11

I always wear short boots with skirts / tights. I am still wearing my canvas trainers with trousers as been fairly warm but the tights and boots will be out soon.
