Has anyone tried them and can recommend them or not.
I have been trying to buy them in asda and primark (I am such a skin flint), but they never, ever have my size . Have done a quick search on line and they are selling for £40 odd pound. I would pay this if they do actually hold the old gut in, without killing me in the process.
I have seen ones that say "light control" which are quite cheap but I need maximum control.
Anyhow, any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Oh, also, if anyone has worn them (and lived to tell the tale) have you bought them in your size or a size smaller. . HOnestly, someone did recommend that!.

I get mine in Matalan, £9.99 a pair, they go from thigh to boob and make you one size less than you are. In flesh clour or black.

Thanks. Haven't tried there. I think you can also get them in m&s but would imagine they are more expensive.
Will be trying matalan tomorrow.

Don't get a size smaller than you, they will just 'sausage' up your flab and you will have unslightly bulges. Also on an up to boob jobbie it will roll down (voice of sad experience here!).

Strangely enough, when I went through my wardrobe after losing weight, I tried on my old control pants (size 16) that I'd worn when I was an 18/20 in a desperate attempt to look slimmer, and as a size 12, they fitted beautifully and still flattened out the remaining jelly belly (possibly because they weren't having to work so hard to strain around the rest of me!). So while I wouldn't say get a size too big, I wouldn't get a size too small, iyswim...?

Btw, imho M&S light control is just that - very light. Wouldn't waste my time on it unless you have very little excess to squish in.

i have several pairs of spanx, the ones from thigh to just under boobs.
the black ones seem tighter than the flesh colour ones.
oh, and for day to day, i have them 2 sizes bigger than i need (an accidental discovery) and they still hold me in v nicely but dont bloody kill me. the size B ones are for nights out only

Lovecat- Asda did have them in a size bigger than I am. Should have got them then. Thanks for the advice.

Boyzntheshire- I priced the spanx ones which were quite expensive. Hopefully I will be able to get them in matalan and if no good may then go for the spanx ones. Shame about the black ones being best as I need the flesh coloured ones for my dresses.

Another vote for Spanx. Well worth it, look most unsexy but definitely do the trick.

LyraSilvertongue · 05/06/2008 13:23

I have the Trinny and Susannah Magic Knickers and they're not that great tbh. Cost a bloody fortune too.

hatcam · 05/06/2008 13:26

in desperation after first baby when going to a wedding I bought Spanx at vast expense, the ones that go from boobs (attach to bra) to thighs. They are absolutely the business - like lipo. Godsend. Buy from figleaves.
