Looking for a bra with wires high into my armpits

JKGalbraithsTable · 02/10/2025 08:46

I’m a 28E/F but need something that holds all the flesh in, rather than it just disappearing in an unflattering blob of fat under each armpit.

The problem seems to be the wire just doesn’t come up high enough to hold it in.

I never seem to have any luck when I try on a random selection. I can get to Bravissimo this lunchtime.

What should I try?

I do know what you mean. I buy t shirt bras from markies and the wire comes up into the armpit. I was told my breasts have wide roots so need a bra that encompasses all the breast tissue. Look for bras with side support Freya do this

Panache Envy or Panache Tango all come up fairly high at the sides however it’s the band you’re needing to be high rather than specifically the wires (some styles have fairly high wires but then the band under your arms is tapered so sits fairly low. Also possible Tango no longer comes in a 28 back which is annoying- I’m a 28 as well and know the frustration of the limited options. Definitely stick with Panache if you’re wanting high wires. Bravissimo own brand and Freya are often quite low by comparison. Good luck and remember the girls in the store know their stuff and will be used to this question too.

Bravissimo usually say that the back should be narrower than you think and the cup size much larger - so you push the side bits more forward and they go into the cup. Could try that?

Doggymummar · 02/10/2025 09:08

Book a fitting and they will bring you the styles, its probably better to book as they can order in some options as your size is rarer than most

JKGalbraithsTable · 02/10/2025 09:33

Right; Panache it is!

Empreinte

If you can, go to Rigby and Peller but Bravissimo are quite good on fitting.

I second the pp who recommended Panache as a brand with higher wires. Panache Tango used to be my everyday bra but I wasn't able to go back to them after pregnancy/maternity as the wires are now too high!

Bravissimo staff are great and really knowledgeable. I'm sure they'll be able to help you find something pretty that's also a great fit. I love new undies. Enjoy.

As an alternative maybe try a bra/crop top with a wide back and side band which covers and scoops everything in much more smoothly and comfortably than a wired bra (imo). Have a look at the M&S Flexifit range.

I too always buy teashirt bras and they keep it all in. They are the only bras that do.

Gettingbysomehow · 02/10/2025 15:45

What do they mean by "roots" boobs don't have roots wide or otherwise 😂

Breast tissue is attached to the tissue beneath it. Where it starts and ends is not uniform.

wantmorenow · 02/10/2025 15:54

Pour moi, aura side support bra. Got mine from Amazon. Fantasie bras also do side support bras.

SE20schools · 02/10/2025 15:54

Was going to say Panache, but also Fantasie. I am a similar build and the french brands are the best for this imo

It’s just what they use to describe the growth area of breast tissue and so what the underwire needs to cover. Often it’s assumed small breasts just need narrow cups but it’s not necessarily correct big boobs can be all out in front so no need for wider underwires.

Homegrownberries · 02/10/2025 16:02

Try going up a cup size and down a back size.

Down to a 26FF? Where stocks this size? Genuine question as that would be great if it exists but given 28 is already incredibly hard to find I’d be amazed if I could find a 26FF.

whattheysay · 02/10/2025 17:52

I get the M&S t shirt bras, the wire comes up very high on the arm pit so all the flesh goes in as I hate fat spillage out of the back or sides. I get the slightly padded ones.
I’m 32GG so they do the large cups in those ones

I’ve given mine a good feel and the roots are wider than my hand despite small cup size. weird old boobs I have 🫠🫠

Bravissimo actually list the ones that provide extra side support (in their opinion!) but you have to try, I find it really depends so much on the make and model and even size to size fit differently. I've heard good things about Miss Mary of Sweden bras as well but have never tried them myself.

I agree that Panache and Fantasie are particularly high up in the armpit with the wires - generally I like and need this, but I have one Fantasie bra I had to get rid of as it was just too high!!

Side Support Bras | Bras with Side Sling Panels | Bravissimo

Shop a wide range of Side Support Bras in D-L cup. Women with big boobs tend to love side sling bras as they give a forward facing shape & are very supportive.

Try Rigby and Peller or google custom made bras, there are a few places which do them
