Shoe recommendation for lots of walking

Going to NYC in December and trying to prep for lots of walking in freezing temps.

Im looking for a boot or sneaker to wear with jeans or leggings that is going to be warm and comfortable with preferably some sort of waterproofing.

I have quite wide feet and wore hokas and sketcher sandals on a holiday with lots of walking this summer so looking for something equally good suitable for winter.

My relatives that like walking swear by Hoka shoes
