Victoria Starmer’s shoes

deeahgwitch · 01/10/2025 14:33

Does any Mumsnetter know where Victoria Starmer’s beige shoes are from ?
She wore them with a red Karen Millen dress (rented apparently) at KS’s keynote speech at the Labour Party conference.

I'm really intrigued to know whether you listen to the speeches and political debate or do you watch the Labour Party conference purely for fashion inspiration?

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/10/2025 20:52

This is S&B, even the terminally disheveled here are always watching for fashion inspiration @Bringitonicancope.

FFS. All the eye rolls.

Is it not possible the OP may have been watching the speech and happened to notice something that caught her eye or that she likes?

Life isn't as black and white as you seem to think!

Bringitonicancope · 02/10/2025 22:42

@Smileybutwily

FFS. All the eye rolls.

Well actually it was a genuine question.

Many years ago, when I was very interested in politics , I used to watch all the party conferences. I listened to what was going on but I didnt't pay any attention to what people were wearing.

These days I'm world weary with politics and I don't watch the conferences. I listen to some political stuff on the radio but don't watch it on the TV. I wouldn't even recognise Victoria Starmer actually.

I was just quite surprised that anyone taking the trouble to watch the Labour Party conference was actually taking note of what people were wearing.

penfoldanddangermouse · 02/10/2025 23:23

She's the best thing about the leadership, just as BoJo was ALMOST normalised by his partner. She's certainly stylish and Kier is punching well above his weight, just as BoJo was, if one bases match on looks versus looks.

deeahgwitch · 03/10/2025 00:08

I just saw a photo in the DM and liked the shoes. I don’t live in the UK and I posted it in the Style and Beauty section on Mumsnet @Bringitonicancope

Well, I found your post funny 😁

And @DisforDarkChocolate ‘s response too.

The link on very only has one review. I wonder if it’s her!!

Shoes are beautiful but I suspect to wide for my hobbit feet!

But even if OP came for the fashion but then stayed for the speeches, what's wrong with that?

She might become interested in Labour politics because she liked Victoria's shoes. I don't suppose it will last long, the state they are in now, but never mind that. Grin

Don't you realise such dour attitude as in your post only serves to push people away?

LemonTT · 03/10/2025 08:32

Whatever your political views are, she does dress well. I think she has that Michelle Obama type of style. Relatable and not over styled.

Nannyfannybanny · 03/10/2025 08:34

They look really uncomfortable,so narrow and pointy

If you read OP's update she actually asked about the shoes because she saw a photo in the DM and liked them. She didn't watch the conference and wasn't at it.
Which is fair enough.

I'm not quite sure what my " dour attitude" is exactly and what it's pushing people away from.

My feeling is watching or attending party political conferences is hardly a pastime of choice for many people and my assumption has always been it's only chosen by people with a serious interest in politics. And not the type of occasion where people are focusing on fashion. So i was interested in OP's post.

And as it happens OP has confirmed she wasn't interested in the politics of the conference at all. Which I'm certainly not criticising her for.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/10/2025 08:47

I'm sorry, but it certainly didn't come across that way.

Daftypants · 03/10/2025 09:40

Ooh I’m old , I have a very similar pair tucked away in the back of my wardrobe from 2025 .
I am out of touch , what was she wearing them with

He's not bad looking for a politician and a 63 year old man who is slightly overweight. Much better than Johnson, though that's a low bar. They make rather a cute couple IMO.

Nannyfannybanny · 03/10/2025 16:48

Cute couple.! I saw them with a dog, then it turned out,a lady with a dog was walking past, and they asked to borrow the dog, seriously!!

jeremyclarksonsthirdnipple · 03/10/2025 17:17

Email Lord Alli he probably knows cos he probably purchased them!!! (sorry I couldn't resist..forgive my flippancy please!)

Daftypants · 03/10/2025 18:04

Thanks , I forgot to edit my post .
my shoes were from 2005 🤣

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 03/10/2025 18:13

I have no interest in Victoria Starmer, Victoria Starmer’s shoes, the Labour Party conference, the Daily Mail actually that’s a bit of a fib, or anything that anyone involved in politics wears.

But berating someone for asking a style and beauty question in the style and beauty section? That’s…….an interesting take. Like the people who get all shouty when someone asks a Christmas arrangements question in March in the Christmas section 😵‍💫.

OP, for all future shoe questions, please post them in the fish tank section where they will be answered fully. Or the cat section. Or primary education. Or wherever. But not style and beauty!

Melancholyflower · 04/10/2025 07:12

I just assumed the OP saw a photo and liked her shoes.

"She's the best thing about the leadership" Bloody hell.
