What are we wearing under blazers and suit jackets these days?

Hello fashionistas! I am looking for some help smartening up my work look. My go to the last few years has been wide leg trousers with fine knit jumpers with trainers/loafers but thanks to a recent promotion I do need to smarten up a bit. I have various blazers and suit jackets in different styles, but I am struggling with what to wear under them. 10 years ago when I was last required to wear a suit I used to buy short sleeved blouses in nice fabrics from places like Next, Oasis and H&M but I am struggling to find anything I like now that looks decent quality.

I'd really appreciate your advice on styles, shops to look in, and actual links to tops that might be suitable would be amazing. My budget is probably £30-£50 per top. I suit jewel colours in cool tones, navy and ivory but not black or white. Thanks in advance for your help!

Polo neck more fitted fine jumpers might suit you if you’re a fan and look good with the jacket?

Thanks but I should have said I can't cope with jumpers under suit jackets because I overheat! I used to wear a lot of polo necks, but I'm at the age and stage where I overheat in them even without a jacket...

I just wear a plain t-shirt. I've got some from river island that have lacy sleeves but the body of the top is just a normal t-shirt so its still interesting and worky when I take my jacket off.

Satin blouses - Loads around the £25-30 mark in M&S and JD Williams. Have also seen them in Stories and Zara. And there's a great patterned green one in Brand Alley for about £20.

Zara has some lovely plain linen shirts in ochre for £29.99 or a smoky grey for £19.99

Nice shirts, secondhand from ebay or vinted.

I like the contrast of a plain white t shirt.

Oh gosh I’m with you there! I wear t shirts as a previous poster said. I tend to put a jacket on if I wear a shirt and then take it off!
I often wear suit jackets with all sorts of dresses too, if you are much of a dress person?

I am not a fan of a shirt with a collar under a jacket/blazer. It makes me feel like I’m playing adult dress up (even though I am very clearly an adult). I wear smart t-shirts, like a PP, I look for ones with a bit of lace or an interesting material. I wear the odd collarless blouse too.
