Super warm massive mid priced football coat

I’ve had my Rab deep cover for years, got it out and wore this morning and it’s gone really scruffy looking and past its prime.

I didn’t have a ‘big coat’ in my winter clothes budget this year, so am now looking to see if a could find a ‘cheap but mega warm’ coat for this winter.

Needs to cover 2x (kids) football training and 2x football matches per week in all weathers as a minimum.

Mid 40s, size 12, probably looking for a big puffer, budget about £75, any ideas?

Sweaty Betty nimbus gets me through hours on the sidelines at rugby/football. Have a look on vinted for secondhand?

I have this one from Superdry at £110 but you can often get a discount code. Worth the money - warm at every match. Showerproof but not waterproof. Its been a game changer

I got one v similar to the Superdry one above in khaki for about £50 a couple of seasons ago but think they do similar now.

Kept me toasty from side of rugby pitches, and I am known for being nesh!

I know they can be divisive so it may not be your thing but what about a change robe? They are warm and water/windproof with lots of space inside for layers. You can get good ones in your budget.

Oh there is one of these new with tags on Vinted for £60, worth a thought!

I would like one of these, all expensive on Vinted though, have popped it into my saved searches!

I actually have one of these (or one that looks as least like on as possible!) but I’m looking for arctic temperatures coat! 😄

Hmm I meant to say from H&M

You watch them training? Have to say I never did that. Sat in the car and watched netflix Grin
I have one similar to the superdry one and a properly waterproof parka. Both less than £100 from outdoor sports shops. I mainly need mine to be waterproof/windproof (so taped wrist bands etc) as I layer up with cozy thermals for the winter football matches. Biggest thing for me is my feet, they have to be warm. I wear 2 pairs of wool socks and snow boots!

I bought an incredibly warm long puffer coat from Uniqlo - it was £60 in the sale (think they are full price at this time of year) but found out the other day it isn't waterproof at all, so gorgeous as they are, avoid if you want to wear them all through the season.

TokyoSushi · 27/09/2025 14:48

Yes! I know lots of football Mums! 😄

2 years ago I found a Didrikson warm long coat on eBay.
it was so good I bought another one for DC1 and another one again for DC2.

ive lost weight and DC1 is now a teen. So I think we are going to swap coats!!

wil seek out another Didrikson for DC2.

they are warm and waterproof and can be washed in the washing machine. Love them!

FeyreandRhysand · 28/09/2025 07:33

Uniqlo puffer, will be a bit over your budget but I think there’s a sign up for emails discount. Best coat ever, and the pockets are fleece lined!

Seconding this Superdry. I was lucky enough to pick mine up in a charity shop new with tags last year for £25, and it's brilliant. We've got season tickets at Chelsea and this keeps me toasty warm in the stands. It's like wearing a duvet.

if you want a shorter jacket I've got a great padded Michael Kors one (bought in T K Maxx so it may or may not be legit Michael Kors). It's really lightweight but really warm and has cuffs with a thumbhole in like running tops, so you can pull them down over your hands.
