Spots/acne & caffeine

For the past month I have cut down my coffee & tea intake down to 1 cup a day (if that) and found that my complexion has improved a fair bit.

Is there a link between caffeine and the affect it can have on skin? Before I cut down, at most I was drinking 3-4 cups a day.

No, there is no link that's based on solid evidence.

No I don't think so. If however you are substituting the tea and coffee with water then that will be why- when I remember to drink enough water, which is nowhere near as often as I should the difference in my skin is amazing

Grublin · 03/06/2008 11:50

Either water or a squash.
I try to have at least 3 pints a day which is a lot for me as I have never had a big fluid intake.

whereabouts are your spots ?

If I eat too much chocolate I get spots around my temples.

What sort of coffee were you drinking because different types have different amounts of caffiene contents

Grublin · 03/06/2008 20:12

On my temples, checks and chin mostly, with a few in others areas.
I was drinking bog standard Nescafe.

(Sorry Nestle boycotter's )

if you like tea, try redbush tea (rooibos) you can buy it anywhere these days.

Ref harsh products on the face, I would stay clear - need to resolve the cause.

Lots of chemicals in coffee, so if you must have a cup (like me) stick to one decent cup a day (pref organic) then drink redbush (don't know much about green tea & PLENTY of water !

DirtySexyMummy · 03/06/2008 23:46

Would just like to point out that eating chocolate and drinking caffeine has no effect on spots.

Drinking water and green tea can improve your skin however.

Mojomummy · 04/06/2008 16:29

well that's your opinion & actually incorrect

Please PLEASE don't tell me about me & my skin
