Can I wear knee high boots with a dress?

I’ve just bought a lovely dress (with pockets yay!) to go to a day do. Can I wear brown knee high boots with it (for comfort and warmth) or is this a terrible idea? Will try to post the dress for you to tell me what to wear with it please. I’m 5.3 size 12 on top but more like a 10 waist (Big boobs) and I think I’m apple shape but the dress looks flattering I think. Or what other footwear would you recommend please? I was hoping to avoid heels

Brown suede Chelsea boots with a little heel?

Thanks everyone I think I know not to wear boots with it now. I’m also of the opinion that the models with boots and dresses on are going to look good in anything due to their body shape and beauty.

No, the models wearing boots and a dress who look good styled that way look good because it's the right shape and length of dress and the right style of boots.

I think your dress looks quite summery and might appear a bit mismatched with wintery boots but ankle boots could work as a bit of a halfway house.
I wear dresses with boots in the winter and will wear the same dress in the summer with bare legs and flip flops but the style of dress is quite universal and I don’t really do patterns, prefer solid block colours as they feel easier for me to style throughout the year.
I am quite partial to a stripey shirt though!

This is ageist bollocks. It would make a young person look cool but an older person look older? What does that even mean?

For what it’s worth OP, I think it’s the wrong kind of dress for knee high boots. It could possibly work with suede cowboy boots as a PP suggested.

You can call it what you like but I think when you’re young you can pull off every look as it can be kitsch or retro or vintage or boho but when youre older it can look like the kind of eccentricity that comes with cognitive decline or something Bette from the Rovers Return might wear. I don’t mind if you hate my opinion, it was free to give.

@Hairyhat Of course models look good! However style is available to everyone. If your dress is longer, knee length boots are fine. If it’s knee length, it’s better to go with ankle boots. The cowboy style boots are everywhere right now but they don’t suit me. Only buy them if you love them and will get the wear out of them.

Why are you asking our permission to wear boots?? 🤔

She's not. She's asking for opinions on whether it will look ok.
