Would this outfit be awful for a birthday party?

I have my sister’s 50th birthday party soon. I have nothing to wear. My wardrobe is work supplied corporate and a mix of jeans, t shirts blazers and knitwear.

I do have a pair of ankle length faux leather skinny jeans in black. I also have black sling back heels but no top half to go with. I have seen this on Vinted that would also do over the Christmas period. What do you think?

I do have a budget for something new. I don’t wear dresses and can’t be bothered with jumpsuits so it’s definitely trousers or jeans with some sort of top. The party is in a local venue, ceilidh to start, food then disco. I have flats to wear for the ceilidh!

I am 52 if that makes a difference.

Image under review but it’s a sequin blouse on Vinted.

I just bought a sweater in similar material, same colour too. To be honest I don’t like it very much, makes me look a bit drag queen/mother of a solid gold dancer. I’m 60 but genuinely don’t look it and I felt it aged me.

I’d go with with smart jeans, T-shirt, blazer, flat shoes, and dress it up with a good belt and accessories. A ceilidh is a hot and sweaty endeavour. You don’t want wear PVC leggings and a scratchy top.

Thanks. It’s why I didn’t want to wear a blazer. It will come off straightaway and a t shirt just doesn’t seem smart enough.

I’m not a fan. The sequins give it a cruise ship dress up vibe. Mint Velvet have some beautiful modern blouses at the moment. Burgundy colour is on trend!

I think your skinny jeans and a smart tshirt (I had some silk ones from Ted baker a few years back that were lovely with a pair of jeans) with the blazer that can come off immediately if you wish would look absolutely fine.
Sorry but the sequin shirt is giving me cabaret night with Jane McDonald vibes.

Ok. Thanks. I have a couple of navy blazers that are a bit smarter. One is velvet.
