Mascara for an older woman

I could really use your advice, please. I wore quite a lot of makeup when I was younger, but I am now almost 70 and have no idea what to buy! My eye lashes are quite sparse now and so I would like to get a suitable mascara. However, I don’t want anything that would be obtrusive IYSWIM, just something to tint them a little. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am almost totally housebound, so I just want to spruce myself up a bit to help with my confidence.
TIA

Its really expensive, but if you do want to treat yourself the Victoria Beckham Mascara is wonderful and comes in a lovely burgundy colour too which is lighter than black, and if you have green eyes amazing. It isn't heavy or bold, just a natural coverage.

This! I'm heading for 60 and find it really works for me. Cheap too!

Have you heard of Laura Geller make up? It’s made for maturer skin and both me (40) and my mum (69) love it.

Thank you everyone! Some good ideas to try.

I really love 19/99 lash tint mascara. It's got a teeny tiny wand so you can get to all your lashes and you can build up as you need to. I get it online from Soace NK.

I would recommend one of the clinique tubing mascaras , lash power is good. And second the laura geller baked foundations.

bumbaloo · 18/09/2025 21:08

Clinique power lash is the tubing one and is really clean and not heavy or clumpy

After a brief try out of the Charlotte Tilbury a while ago, I’d say it’s possibly the opposite of the discreet look the OP is aiming for.

For swimming I wear Dior waterproof mascara ( I think it is called plush). For every day Charlotte Tilsbury pillow talk.
I find both glide on easily, dont clump and don’t smudge. Both brushes are good for me.
