Suit jacket for black and navy blue outfits?

I'm leading a 3-day meeting next month with a group of VIPs. It's going to be very formal, very stuffy and I need to wear a suit jacket for the first time in 20+ years. I have suitable office wear in black and navy that's smart enough but not enough of one colour for all three days.

Is there such a thing as a suit jacket colour that goes well with outfits in both black and blue? It's a very conservative type of meeting so going for fuschia won't cut it.

Whistles do a fitted jersey jacket circa £100 that you could look at that is in a wide array of colours.

I think it would only work if the colour was completely different to both black and navy, but that would make it stand out so it would be noticed that you’re wearing the same jacket on all three days.

would something cheaper, like a structured cardigan, work so that you could buy more than one?

Why not hire a couple of decent jackets?

That way you can be smartly dressed without spending a good deal of money on something you don’t generally wear.

Excellent ideas, thankyou. I normally wear structured cardigans but have to take it up a notch for this visit.

A burgundy jacket would do the trick.

There's loads of blazers in the shops at the moment, I'd get an open front slightly relaxed fit one (ie not buttoned up). (Relaxed fit doesn't mean oversized - steer clear of oversized!). It just means usually open fronted, but still smart and softly-structured rather than stiff tailored. It will be comfortable to wear all day, unlike most boucle jackets. A mid grey would go with both black and navy. Or a dark burgundy. I wouldn't do any kind of cardigan, structured or otherwise, and I'd probably be doubtful of any kind of jersey blazer/jacket.

Next have many blazers in, have a look online for a relaxed fit.

I agree burgundy would be perfect, or a forest green but as PP said, it will be obvious you have worn it 3 days in a row. Why not get a second one- a check or tweed style blazer, they are everywhere at the moment- and you can then wear it again with jeans.

Or something like this that would look good with navy ankle grazer trousers and cream top.
