Vinted authentication services - experiences?

I have just bought a beautiful designer bag off Vinted and opted for their verification service. I've saved for ages and waited for over a year for one like this one to come up. Also searched other sites etc.

I can't find much info about the verification service so not sure how thorough it is. Does anyone have any experience they can share please? Am desperate for this bag not to be fake as it doesn't often come up second hand!

If you don’t collect you don’t always get a refund- I never have if I missed collecting (happened twice as ended up in hospital)

@WinchSparkle80 I'm sorry to hear that! I'll have a careful think about what to do next. Maybe if Bottega say it's a fake I can do a chargeback on my credit card?

@Ihateboris it's quite a small bag hence why I didn't think £550 was too bag but in hindsight I think I've been quite foolish.

Does anyone know of any reputable second hand sellers/shops? Even Vestier doesn't sound that reliable. It feels like a minefield and maybe just not worth it at all.

I don't know whereabouts you are; but there's a place in Prestbury in Cheshire that sells pre loved designer wear and bags. I bought a Balmain dress from there.

My verified bag came in a Vinted cloth bag so I assumed that it had gone via Vinted?

Yes, do this. Vinted are crap as you only have two days to report an issue otherwise you can't make a claim.

Be careful about not collecting as my collection point routinely marks as delivered rather than ready to collect, triggering the 2 day timescale for issues. You could consider automatically opening an issue with Vinted to give yourself more time to get the bag verified by an accredited seller. Vinted will suspend the transaction as I understand it. Just wanted to post an update and say it's the real deal.

I decided to pick up the bag and get it checked out at the Bottega store. The bag itself had a few scuffs on it that weren't on the listing, a it looked a bit more worn than in the photos but it is still a lovely bag. The people in the store were initially a bit sceptical about its authenticity as it's not a colour they do anymore but they checked the serial number in the bag on their computer system and said it was the real deal! I'm so please but I think I just got lucky so I would still be wary about buying designer on Vinted and I don't think I'll buy off someone who doesn't have any reviews again, and if I did then I'd buy on credit card so I can raise a claim if it does turn out to be a fake.

And I have to say the people in the store were so nice. I was worried about them looking down on me with my Vinted bag but they were lovely! There were lots of other people in there buying multiple bags. How the other half live!!

I used Vinted verification hub and it was an awful experience, I bought a watch which due to the cost I wanted verified as genuine, Vinted forwarded it to me with parts missing the strap wasn't attached and couldn't be because they had not sent the parts to reattach it when they had obviously taken it apart. Nothing in the packaging I got from them told me if it was genuine or not and the qr code they had attatched to it took me to some random advertisements nothing to do with Vinted or the watch in question. I had to pay to have the watch put back to the way it should of been and vinted weeks on are still investigating the matter. Save your money and get it done when you receive the item !
