Water marks on my tan leather boots - what do I do??

I thought I'd done full rain protection but clearly not!!

Great white water lines all over my favourite tan ankle boots.

What's the best thing to do? My instincts say wash them with a cloth and let them dry before polishing and protecting but would this get rid of them??

I find after having children that water wipes seem to get everything out like magic - I may try that

interesting @hobbledyhoy ... I've got some and will give them a go if no one comes up with bright ideas....
