What price for a ring to be made?

I have a stone which I want to be mounted on a plain band with a 4 prong setting - probably 9 or 18 white gold. What price would you expect to pay for this?

No one has had a ring made to order?

I had a ring made in 2006 pretty simple but very unique so can't describe it. £300. No idea what the going rate is.

I'm interested in this, too! There's a huge difference between the cost of 9ct and 18ct. I've recently bought second-hand 9ct rings for under £100, but 18ct ones come in over £200.

9ct white gold grain is £48 per gram at Cookson Gold; 18 carat is £90.

They have quoted me between 800 - 1300 to make this. I'm astounded . I'm providing the stone.

I paid £1000 to have 2 yellow gold rings with sapphires and diamonds merged onto a white gold ring.

Around £1000 in 18ct. Depends if they need to hand make the prongs. Could be a bit cheaper if factory produced and it’s en assembly job.

I had a gold ring melted down and wrapped round another ring. Then got a small ruby and quart mounted. It was a bespoke design. This cost me £800.

Thanks for comments. I'm going to price around I think as this was just supposed to be a " fun ring" .

I had by engagement ring made 18 months ago, including a half carat diamond it was £2500 in platinum, the diamond was a fair amount of the cost as it was a high clarity or something (dh know more about this sort of thing, i could have had a bigger one if it was lower quality I know that much but im not keen on big stones)

Btw platinum came in £100 less than white gold when I ordered but market price changes a lot

With the prices quoted it would be cheaper to fly to Dubai and get it done in one of many jewellers in the gold market
