Please tell me where to find good quality ankle boots (£200-£400)

Can anyone suggest where I could find high quality leather (and leather lined) ankle boots, please?

Preferably something in a style like this (I ordered them, but they were too narrow, and I wasn't overly impressed with the quality).

My feet are wide-ish, but I don't necessarily need a wide fitting, just not a particularly narrow fitting.

Any suggestions of brands would be very welcome, even if they aren't offering that particular style at the moment - I just don't know where to find good footwear at the moment!

Many thanks.

Have a look at Timberland (it’s not all glorified work boots).

Fairfax and Favour www.fairfaxandfavor.com/collections/womens-boots might be worth a look

Try the classic British bootmakers.

Crockett & Jones
Trickers
Grenson
Cheaney etc

Don't bother with Church's, Prada own them now and they're shit.

Russell & Bromley

I have some Cheaney boots. They are a very traditional leather construction and the quality is impeccable. At £400 they are a lifetime investment. The staff in the Jermyn St shop are good, but you can order online.

All of these. (I particularly love Grenson.) Plus:

(Some of these are very slightly north of your budget but probably spend half the year reduced in the sales.)

Brilliant suggestions - thanks so much to everybody. Lots of excellent browsing ahead of me this weekend!

P.S. I'm happy to go a bit north of budget for the right boots. Ireckon I'll have them for a long time...

Whatever brand you go for, pay attention to the construction.

If you think you might want a boot that lasts a lifetime you'll want goodyear welt or similar which can be resoled. Avoid anything cemented/moulded.

This is a very good point - thanks. It does bug me when shoes can't be re-soled (or even re-heeled, in some cases!)

Brands like Cheaney and Crockett and Jones will do a full rebuild in their factory.

I have these https://www.cheaney.co.uk/jess-capped-derby-boot-in-chicago-tan-chromexcel-leather-p652
They look chunky on the website, but are actually really neat on the foot

and
https://www.cheaney.co.uk/britney-r-chelsea-boot-in-black-waxy-commander-p2077

They are both on the same last as I have a high instep and this is the last that fits me.

I had a pair, narrow and really awful fitting. Long at the front and just oddly shaped ( tried a few)
