Merry People dog walking boots

I have a beautiful and energetic fox red Labrador who has three x half hour walks a day (longer on weekends). We’re lucky to live near fields so winter walks are very muddy.

I’ve seen these boots advertised as great for dog walking but at £90-£120 they are a bit pricy. I’d definitely get use out of them and love the colours.

Has anyone bought them and are they worth the money? I might be better off buying some new walking boots but these look easier to clean and a bit more fashionable.

TIA

Best Dog Walking Boots

Merry People makes the best dog walking boots, because no day is too wet, no puddle too deep, and no dog park too muddy for off-lead adventures. Stay in step with your pup in 100% waterproof, neoprene-lined boots with enhanced tread and supportive fit...

I've got some - they're just short wellies. I walk the dog in wellies anyway though so sometimes it's convenient to have shorter ones that are easy to slip on. If you like the structure of a walking boot or need the ankle support, they won't work for you. Also I found the insole really uncomfortable but when I took it out they were fine.

Ah thank you good to know

The best ankle wellies I use for dog walking are the Muck Boots ones, followed by Fit Flops. Both very supportive. I can walk for miles in either. I’ve not tried the Merry People ones, but can recommend Muck Boots and Fit Flops as possible alternatives.

Another vote for Muck Boots and Fit Flop Wellingtons from me.

I would say that they are nice and cosy as they're lined in neoprene. But still just pretty wellies.

I think if you're going to spend big on wellies I'd buy Le Chameau… Aigle or Gateway1. They're all great. I have Merry People and they're fine but nothing special for the money.

I actually prefer to walk my dogs in supportive walking boots unless it is super muddy. I wear a brilliant pair from Lanx and they go for miles. Much better on uneven terrain.

SidNut · 13/09/2025 18:10

I’ve just bought a pair. They feel big. Their sizing AI said a 9 (42) for me, I’m usually always a 42 and some brands that can be a bit snug on me. I’ve just ordered some insoles to go in them.

I’ll probably mostly wear them out and about in the rain with ankle skimming jeans, think Christmas markets etc. If I was dog walking in winter, I’d still go full wellies or walking boots not the merry boots.

edited to say they do look lovely though I’m very pleased with that

I've got a Lanx pair of boots that I use most days apart from if it's really muddy. They're a gift from the gods, so comfy from the word go. My full length wellies are Aigle and again, can walk miles in them. Having 2 spaniels, we spend a lot of time walking in wet fields - yay Hmm

Gardenroomdoom · 13/09/2025 18:15

Muck boots USED to be great but then the quality went massively downhill. The heels now lose their structure and rub after a few months. The sides often split. It's a shame. The first pair I had were fantastic.

Dutchhouse14 · 13/09/2025 18:48

I have them and love them, they are warm, thick soled and I find them very comfortable to walk in, and also very durable, I've had mine for over a year and they get a lot of wear, during spring/autumn / winter I wear them every day for dog walking.
They are the best short wellies I've ever had (and I've had a lot!)

violetpink · 13/09/2025 18:59

Another MP wellies lover here, DH has some too.
We find them great!

Leedsmum27 · 13/09/2025 19:05

I love them . Best and most comfortable wellies I’ve ever had. Wear all the time for dog walking . They are expensive but have been through too many cheaper pairs so wanted to upgrade. So far so good.

Just bumping this and wondering if people have opinions on Bobbi Vs Tully? Is the non rubber bit at the top on the Tully ones still waterproof?

KnottyKnitting · 23/10/2025 07:28

I bought some of these for my DD last Christmas and she sent them back as was very disappointed with the quality which she felt was very poor for the price.

LavenderBlue19 · 23/10/2025 07:31

They are comfy, and I don't think the price is too bad for decent quality wellies. They are 'just' wellies though, as others have said - not that much support. I wouldn't wear them for a day out, but they're great for a wet walk.
