Apart from sympathy of course, for people who have lost their jobs, I can't say I'm gonna miss the brand. Horrendous styles of flowery shit.

My favourite posh shoes are from Irregular Choice! They are super comfy (for heels) and I get so many compliments when I wear them.
I've got a couple of other pairs too. I was hoping with them ceasing trade I might get some bargains in the clearance sale but alas I still can't afford them!

I really disagree with the idea that it's ok for an independent business to go under if I don't like their product. I dislike trainers and never wear them but I'd still be sorry if an independent trainer maker went bust because all it would mean is more business for Nike and Adidas.

Hallywally · 12/09/2025 10:11

I used to wear them about 10/15 years ago. They had some great alternative/gothy/rockabilly/retro styles. Had a look recently and they were largely awful.

Darragon · 12/09/2025 10:12

I used to love them as art but the fit was always terrible and the heels on the high ones were about a centimetre too high to walk properly in. I looked at their site to treat myself recently and realised I just didn’t have space in my life for another pair of £100 shoes I couldn’t even wear to a special occasion. For that much, they also should absolutely have done half sizes. Their current designs didn’t wow me either.

I really disagree that every independent business should be celebrated and protected just because it's independent.

Shame for the employees but IC shoes are hideous and I can't say I'm surprised.

Floisme · 12/09/2025 10:19

Where did I celebrate it please? I said I don't even like their shoes. I just find the lack of diversity in our high street, and the way the conglomerates can hoover up all the competition, quite depressing.

Edited: This was in response to @HoLeeFuk's post. Sorry I should have quoted.

CanOfMangoTango · 12/09/2025 10:21

Like others I used to love them 20 years ago.

To be fair to them they had some great designs back then.

But it's not my thing any more and I just don't wear heels now.

Gettingbysomehow · 12/09/2025 10:26

What revolting shoes. As I recall people used to wear that kind of thing in the 80s and we all thought they were horrible then.
There is nothing in the sale that I want.

What a strange thing to say. Irregular Choice is over 20 years old and lots of people will miss it.

Why? Should we have Shein/Temu shit on the highstreet instead?
