My Wedding day is in 10 weeks - help me glow up.

Hi all,

I’m getting married in 10 weeks (eek!) and really want to feel and look my best. I’m 36, a bit overweight, and my hair has thinned quite a lot over the past couple of years, so I’m after realistic “maximum impact” tips that will help me look and feel more confident on the day.

I’m not expecting miracles in 10 weeks, but if there are things I can do now that will make a noticeable difference by the wedding (skincare, diet, exercise, hair, makeup, treatments, etc.), I’m all ears.

Have any of you managed a quick “glow up” before a big event? What made the biggest difference for you?

on a budget but could stretch for great recommendations

Thanks in advance -

Good sleep, good diet, vitamins, lots of fresh fruit and veg. Cut down on sugar. Eat more protein. Lots of water and fresh air walks etc.

DD recently got married. She looked amazing ( I know I’m biased). She did try to eat healthily beforehand, walks every day, and went running twice a week. She also used some skincare as recommended by a make up artist ( I can check what it was). She had the eyelash lift thing before the wedding and a manicure.

she also had professional hair and makeup done. She’s not a makeup person usually but I wanted her to have that if she wanted it and she chose a lovely very natural MUA.

Ask around for recommendations and get a trial of hair and make up done if you can afford it. They might have suggestions for how to boost your hair thickness etc. A veil can be quite flattering (obvs depending on what style of wedding you’re having).

Don’t worry OP. The wedding magic will descend and you will look amazing I’m sure. The main thing is that you feel good in yourself.

Congratulations!

Skin booster (low cost): Water and sleep. I Take magnesium gummies (novomins) to help sleep - they also reduce anxiety (natural to have wedding nerves/excitement!) you should aim to drink at least 2l of plain water a day. Cut out alcohol and reduce non-naturally occurring sugar now (fresh fruit veg etc is fine, cadburys is not) - your skin will look glowy.

Skin prep - double cleanse if you are wearing make up. Use a vitamin C serum in the morning routine to brighten skin. I’ve been using the coryx snail mucin serum (not for everyone who is icky about snail mucin but it’s £20ish a bottle - lasts ages) lately and had great results. The inkey list caffeine eye cream is great if you get puffy eyes (you can also just use clean teaspoons from the fridge on the day). Moisturise everywhere every day religiously. Aveeno is inexpensive and does the job. Buy a hydrating face mask and use every week from now until the big day. It’ll be cheaper to buy one in a tube. Clarins do some great ones but cheaper brands such as The ordinary/the inkey list/super facialist deliver great results.

If you can, book a hygienist dental appointment the week before to have lovely teeth - photos are always more close up/high definition than you think. Eyelash lifts are great but don’t do it too close to your wedding in case you get a reaction. Week before is fine. Definitely get natural looking false eyelashes for your MUA to apply. Charlotte Tilbury setting spray is not cheap but is the best for lasting - would recommend. Definitely get your eyebrows professionally shaped and tinted the week before.

Hair - get your colour done the week before if you have one. Now is not the time to go off piste and try something new - you want to look yourself on the day.

Exercise - get outside and walk/run - it’s free and early morning light helps natural sleep at the end of the day. There is plenty of free exercise routine content online which uses body weight. Start with Joe wickes or similar and progress from there.

Don’t forget to enjoy your day!

Oh and definitely get your nails done professionally. They’ll be close up in the pics!

Hey I am getting married in 4 weeks so am following for tips but have been doing the below

using Charlotte tilbury magic cleanser
using olaplex hair mask once a week
no alcohol
lots of water
limited sugar
lots of walking

I hope you have a great day

Mulledjuice · 11/09/2025 06:18

Do some exercise every day (more than just walking but it only needs to be for 20 mins) and aim for 10-15k steps per day.

You'll make a noticeable difference to your glow and how you carry yourself

A good make up artist on that day is worth their weight in gold!

Re exercise I lost a lot of tummy weight by doing Couch to 5k. It made me feel more confident in my wedding dress on the day. I don’t think I’d actually made it to 5k by the wedding but it still had a significant effect. It’s free exercise and you can do it whenever suits you which is perfect when combined with the costs and demands on your time with planning a wedding.

I also got hair extensions 4 weeks before the wedding. Enough time to get used to them but still had felt new and fresh and made me feel fabulous. They weren’t much longer than my natural hair but made my hair fuller.
